I got a copy of the new Jack Dangers remix compilation cd recently and I really dig it. A professional mastering job featuring full, unedited, un-mixed tracks. Nice showcase of Jack's remixes from 1991 to the present. Now while there are a small handful of us out there who already have most of the remixes in their MBM collections, it is still a must-have release. For the rest of you who haven't really gotten into Jack's remixes, this serves as a much-needed introduction. I've gone through this cd and figured out what's what as far as the tracklisting goes. The tracklisting is a bit wrong. Here's the correction: Pro.File 1 Jack Dangers / Meat Beat Manifesto Remix Collection CD gatefold digipak U.S. Brooklyn Music BML5007 February 5, 2002 1. D.H.S. - "The House Of God (jack dangers remix) 2. Nine Inch Nails - "Closer (deviation)" 3. David Bowie - "You've Been Around (dangers trance mix)" 4. Deepsky - "Stargazer (meat beat manifesto's tuff mix)" 5. Atomic Babies - "Cetch Da' Monkey (sonology instrumental mix)" 6. The Shamen - "Hyperreal (selector edit)" 7. David Byrne - "Ava (nu wage mix)" 8. Freddy Fresh - "Party Right (all terrain mountain mix)" 9. Banco De Gaia - "How Much Reality Can You Take? (mysterious drum mix)" 10. Papa Brittle - "Status Quo (westminster dub)" 11. Tino - "Liquid Dub (jack dangers mix)" Here's a breakdown of a the remixes and where they can be found otherwise: Track #1 appears on Jack Dangers' _Hello Friends!_ mix cd, but it is part of the mix and in an edited/excerpted form. Also appeared previously in its [vinyl-only] full form on Dimensional Holofonic Sound's _ House Of God Official 10 Year Anniversary Remixes_ 12" on Tino Corp. Track #3 is actually "You've Been Around (dangers trance mix)" which was available as an exclusive vinyl-only track on David Bowie's hard-to-find _Black Tie White Noise_ dj-only 12" [BLACK 1]. Track #4 is actually an edit of "Hyperreal (selector)", and not the full version as it is misleadingly listed. This edit also appears on The Shamen's _En-Tact_ cd as a bonus track. Track #8 is supposedly going to appear on an upcoming Freddy Fresh single, but I haven't heard anything more about it. Most likely vinyl-only. Track #11 has appeared on the _Urban Revolutions "The DJ Z-Trip Megamix"_ mix cd, but it was part of the mix and in an edited/excerpted form. All other tracks are from long out-of-print releases. Songs which were previously vinyl-only and can now be found on this release - for the first time - in their full/unedited [digital cd] form: * D.H.S. - "The House Of God (jack dangers remix) * David Bowie - "You've Been Around (dangers trance mix)" * Banco De Gaia - "How Much Reality Can You Take? (mysterious drum mix)" Songs which are (as of this point in time) EXCLUSIVE to this release: * Atomic Babies - "Cetch Da' Monkey (sonology instrumental mix)" * Freddy Fresh - "Party Right (all terrain mountain mix)" * Tino - "Liquid Dub (jack dangers mix)" The digipak sleeve artwork leaves possibilities for future volumes using a slight variation of the same design and/or colors. Inside the sleeve is a resume of nearly all of Jack Dangers' production and remix work. Also included are full credits and publishing info for all of the songs featured on this cd. Oh, and there are four small thumbnails of Jack Dangers original artwork ["Jack Dangers' (micro)Gallery"]. Not really that impressive. Overuse of the Photoshop negative image filter - something you'd see on a video screen at a club or something. Sorry Jack... stick to the music. Anyway, I recommend this compilation to anyone into Meat Beat Manifesto. Most of the songs are instrumentals, with only a few vocal-driven ones. All have been saturated fully by Jack, making them his own. I can't wait for volume number two... at this point he's got enough material for five more. My heart goes out to those who have to deal with the legalities of getting the varoius artists' tracks together. .`-). christopher miller o o.' evil@oasis.net == ' --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Yea, I lived in Minneapolis until July of 2k, so I moved about two years ago. I know there's still a lot of experimental stuff there, though. Matt and crew still do the Hello Music thing at First Ave., John Jindra is still booking shows, Radar Threat still has his amiga parties, Woody McBride is doing a techno thing at the 7th St., etc... Try hooking up with guys like Jace from History of the futurE (www.hotf.net) and you can find a lot of interesting stuff. -- :: atomly :: [ atomly@atomly.com : www.atomly.com ... They left out his remix of Coil's "The Snow" A classic! ...not to mention his Depeche Mode remix, an amazing track done for one of my least favorite musical groups. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

And where's the awesome but rare Ethyl Meatplow remix ?... Good thing the David Byrne one is included though. One of my favorites by Jack Dangers. David Bowie's Pallas Athena (Don't Stop Praying Remix) should've been included too in my opinion.
