Those who've been enjoying vocal-based idm recently may want to check out Hood's 'Cold House', which ends up at around the same place although its roots are in indie/shoegaze. Some nice lo-fi beats, guest appearances by Why? and dose from anticon...it's not Kid A, but unlike that album, the rock/electronic fusion comes off as effortless and totally natural. Oh, c'mon, you guys were discussing Coldplay fer chrissakes, cut me some slack. i second the below opinion. been listening to hood for a few weeks now. 'effortless' and 'natural' are nice and good adjectives for 'cold house'. the album just flows along. i'm all for the indie/idm fusion thing, myself. i've been into both kinds of music for a long time...the hood album, dntel's 'life is full of possibilities', casiotone for the painfully alone's 'pocket symphonies for lonesome subway cars'.... it's good to see the streams crossed in this way. anyone come across anything similar...? and on the OT tip, like hiphop? aesop rock is completely rocking this boat. damn. Wait till you see the new Köhn double cd surfacing... You all be wandering why I took so long to make the successor of "loveless" or the ideal mix between Reich/Aphex/Seefeel. And I'm not talking shoegazer/idm third rate a la Broadcast here (this should set up a discussion:))), but basically a new bookmark... Another couple of weeks patience and you'll hear what I mean (if you have the patience to listen through the whole 130 minutes).
