Dear IDM list, I can't... decide...should I pay $50 + charges to go see Aphex Twin and I need your respective opinions. I don't have any information for whether he is going to be live or dj'ing... It's the All Tomorrow's Parties thing in LA. I've never seen him live before, so I am curious. Is it worth it? It's at Royce Hall in UCLA, which is a sit-down theatre type place... where you can just sit down and chill out and listen... There are other bands, none of them I care much for or like... Sleater Kinney, maybe... and Califone is really good, but neither one of those bands I would pay more then $12 for usually. Oh, I don't know... If he values his future income as much as I've read that he does, I seriously doubt that he'd risk pissing off that many of his fans. Yeah, you might be right! Not that I've ever met the guy, but when I think RDJ I think of someone who cares a lot less about money than about doing whatever the hell he wants. I mean, just think, for example, of what he'd have been raking in right now if he had collaborated with Madonna. I don't think it would have even occured to me to ask her to make pig noises... but then I'm in the habit of showing up for all my gigs, too. Yeah, "negating months of work." See, if someone finds this stuff and spreads it on the internet (until I was so kindly corrected I was under the horrifically false impression that it was stolen, not just left somewhere), then the music is released and he has done months of work only to get nothing for it. I'm SURE that from a purely artistic sense he'd just be glad that the world got to hear his music anyway, but, frankly, if he were doing all this purely out of generousity to the poor, music-starved world, then he probably wouldn't care whether or not it got put on the internet at all.
