ok i just do not understand all the love reviewers et al have given the strokes. i didn't really like their album that much but decided to see them in nashville, tn over thanksgiving all the same.. and left after two songs because they were so insanely bad. why do ppl like the strokes?? and why do they like daft punk? just sounds like boring french house to me. and why do ppl like hte gorillaz for that matter. i'll give them aesthetically pleasing videos but i won't give em any more than that. just plain boring. good for about three listens and no more. please, someone, why do i hate these albums when everyone else loves them???
quoted 4 lines most dissapointing--> > most dissapointing-- > > Fennesz / Endless Summer
i thought this was an incredibly lousy album but now i have listened to a few more times and it's growing on me. but still i think it's quite overrated. but maybe ther ewas no way it could live up to all the hype i heard, read about it. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Well, trying to explain to someone who hates key lime pie what they should like about it after they've tasted a slice and hated it is probably impossible,....different strokes for different folks. (ouch!) At 10:20 AM 12/9/2001 -0800, you wrote:

OK, I know taste is something one shouldn't discuss about, but what the heck: what can one possibly like about the new Daft Punk tracks (post-Homework)? They're made without the least of inspiration, obviously meant to become huge hits (which they did, on every dance/trance/whatever channel over here in Europe) and the way they use those vocoders (and tons of other dance acts in their footsteps, thinking that's the next big thing for "cool dj's" to) just makes me sick. I might be awfully wrong here, and if so: please correct me [keep the flames off-list, though :-)]. Take care, --Jan! Bill wrote:

Another way of looking at the points you have made: They are increally inspired by bring retro '80s-futuristic funky to house music, incredibly catchy, and the vocoders are used to further their unique aesthetic.. ... Is this a list of their favourites they heard this year, or what was actually released? I don't know the whole list, but brainfreeze is not a 2001 release. neither is since I left you (in aus at least). Also, where is the fun is in making a top 100 list. Where's the heartbreak when you have to whittle your finalists down to 10 or 20? :P I'm glad they mentioned that What's Going On re-issue. The original album, plus an entirely different mix, plus a live show (which includes the whole album, and a medly of Marvin Gayes other hits), plus b-sides and a previously unreleased song! Yes please! _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
