I hope that United States learned its lessons with Pearl Harbor as far as targeting the Arab community goes. We are a melting pot, there are many of us here of all different nationalities, religions, beliefs and we have to take care of each other because who knows who the next target might be. And because all these distinctions are shallow. My heart goes out to everyone in New York. I really cant concentrate on working right now, everything I am doing feels so insignificant in comparison... My dad was supposed to fly to New York tomorrow morning for a conference right next to the World Trade Center. if there is anything you guys need as far as help goes, i really dont know what, but please feel free to email me personally and i will do all in my power. I am in SoCalifornia. The one positive thing to come out of this is the sense of community that seems to be emerging. Even with the idm list which is about music, people are pulling together and giving each other support. Eye contact is being made where it wasnt before, everyone is reaching out to each other, all our stupid daily bickering is dissolving. I hope it is continued. anyway, New York, hope all your families and friends are safe and please do not hesitate to ask for help. take care, julia

I don't know what else to say except that my "prayers" go out to all. I don't usually pray for anything, but the limitations of my vocabulary leave me no other alternative. This whole mess leaves me feeling embarassed for being a member of the human race. I burnt my hand with my smoke this morning, swerving my car to avoid squishing a squirrell on the road... then I get to work and see all of this terrible nonsense unfolding. I dunno what to say. Eesh. Peace. Please. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

a large percentage of this list is US based. those of you angered by this discussion, please bear in mind that many of our list members have been directly affected. the idm-list, in all it's dysfunctional glory, is a community, and as a community, we are obliged to communicate with, console, and help those other community members wherever and however we can. it has been brought up that such attention has not been paid to other tragedies worldwide that have happened in the past. however unfair and "U.S.-centric" as that may be, this situation is in the backyard of more than 50% of this list. had a significant amount of list-members been affected by other such tragedies in other countries, this list would have, no doubt, been flooded with communication regarding those tragedies. undoubtedly, some members of this list were injured or killed this morning. my prayers and thoughts are with all of the involved. truly a sad day. brian rachielles clickpop@hyperreal.org idm-l admin --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Love and best wishes to everyone from northern California. As I crested Skyline Boulevard on my way to work I was struck with the most beautiful view of South San Francisco, the bay and all it's surrounding areas. It was so unbelievably beautiful I burst into tears. I pulled over to the side of the road and couldn't stop crying for 15 minutes. Everytime I looked back up at the sky it only made it worse. How can this world be so cruel when life is so beautiful? Coming from Israel and experiencing the terrorism there has really made this such a personal experience for me. The night before last there was a terrorist bombing at the train station in Nahariya. My grandmother lives in Nahariya, my parents live in Shavei Tzion (the next town North). This is my train. My stop. Taken to Tel Aviv, taken to Haifa. Taken to anywhere I need to go. I can hardly express how deeply sorry I am for all the people of the world. If only for one day please take the time today to concern yourself with others, wish them well, let them know they are loved. Imagine those people on the plane the moment before it hit the Trade Tower. If it's blessings you want to give, give them. If it it's prayers then pray for them. Whatever it may be, let it be. My heart goes out to everyone in New York and anyone with family or friends there. Let it be known that myself, as well as people the world over are grieving and mourning this great tragedy. By far one of the most amazing side-effects of the events this morning are the complete lack of air-travel. People living in cities see planes in the sky every few minutes. To look up and just see the sky and realize how major this whole thing is is an amazing thing. Usually a plane goes overhead here every 5 minutes. It's surreal right now. -- And for all the hataz on the list, this has never happened before on US soil, and major places no longer exist. So it's a pretty big thing. ------- eggytoast.com ------- what? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

yep - sad - you're the only one that ventured into explaning WHY this is more important to the minds here than other tragedies - sad day, no more sad than others elsewhere, but more sad for this time this place - the crazy thing is, somewhere, a great victory has been accomplished, and in the chaos that is no doubt that drunken happy party, a few well-aware people are sad. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Aaron Trumm NQuit (Never Never Quit) aaron@nquit.com www.nquit.com Music Available At: * http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/thirdoption * http://www.joesgrille.com/store/p-8633.html * http://thirdoption.iuma.com * http://ubl.artistdirect.com/fp2.asp?layout=artist_card&artistid=476400 * http://www.cdstreet.com/artists/nquit/ * http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005JJEY/qid%3D988850999/104-919049 6-7143939 * http://www.mp3.com/thirdoption * http://www.stationmp3.com/stationMP3/musicians/index.cfm?id=204 * http://www.musicbuilder.com/Third_Option/ * http://thirdoption.djcentral.com ----- Original Message ----- From: <clickpop@hyperreal.org> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Tuesday, September 11, 2001 1:22 PM Subject: [idm] the recent tragedy.
