Well, does that mean we'll see a "Behind the Music" on them then? Ah, right- probably not. Interesting question though - well, maybe not, but I'm bored, so too bad: Who will be the first electronic-music (or IDM, if you prefer) subject of "Behind the Music," and what year will it appear?

Gotta be AFX. We'll get all the sorted details -- the early spendthrift ways (<dark slo-mo shot of Richie driving his tank>), that crucial moment when the artist becomes inured to celebrity and begins treating music as just a paycheck (<the farming out of remixes to friends and flat-mates>), and of course all the sordid sex (<behind the scenes at the filming of the Windowlicker video>), I'm sure it'll be quite a production... ;> John --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Quango has relaunched recently with several comps. Space Jazz isn't out just yet -- will be soon. The one on shelves right now is "Cosmic Funk," featuring Neon Phusion, New Sector Movements, Kaidi Tatham, Funky Lowlives. Basically, Quango is one of very few US labels to pick up on the West London thing (Ubiquity & Planet E are the notable exceptions). I'm curious to see if they'll continue solely making comps & repackaging UK artists, or if they'll start developing some of their own... As for me, no connection: just a curious fan. ;) -----Original Message----- From: Omar Hackett [mailto:Oways@msn.com] Sent: Thursday, July 26, 2001 12:21 PM To: Philip Sherburne; 'idm@hyperreal.org' Subject: Re: [idm] reflection ......funny......I thought I had nearly all of Quango's releases.....never heard of this one tho Phil......... I'd rather see a Storytellers: "Aahhh yeah mate, I reckon I was sniffing cocaine off a 14 year old prostitute's ass when I came up with the idea of running those drum sounds through a granulator !" "Any questions from the audience ?" "Yes, Mr. Booth, I would die a happy man if you would let us know what those vocals at the 4:17:539 mark during Teartear say ?" I think the first Behind The Music would be about Cex and his extravagant gangsta lifestyle and how he couldn't get enough of the bitches and hoes and how he liked to burn 'em with his crack pipe. For anyone who lives in the SF Bay Area, and has been looking for a copy of "The Morerroneous World", there's a used copy at Amoeba in Berkeley for $7.99 - pretty good deal considering it's been out of print for several years. Looking forward to hearing the forthcoming Reflection release because their Tone Language release with Metamatics from last year was a masterpiece of ambient glitchtronica in the vein of classic oval or microstoria. Does anybody know if the new Reflection material be in a similar vein to the Tone Language release or more in the jazzy electronica style of previous Reflection releases? -- -->-Lance---- PO Box 450715 Westlake, OH 44145 United States --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
