bought the new Kid 606 EP, "ps you love me." it's really a very nice little album/ep/whatever. The Matmos and Electric Company remixes are especially fun and i was surprised by this guy/gal/group named Twerk. Neat stuff that is. Anyways, worth what i paid for it (13.99 US)... I went to see the Kid606/Cex/Stars as Eyes tour last night here in Seattle, I must say, god DAMN that was an amazing show. Stars as Eyes put on a great show, much more than I'd expect from a usual opening band, I need to order their CD now (spent all my cash on Kid606 merchandise before I heard SAE. :) ).... Cex was probably the funniest and most fun show I've seen since Adam and his Package (plus I like hiphop better. ;) ).... Kid606 was harsh and powerful, just like I wanted. Probably the best $10 I've spent this summer, Kyle

Alright, bad memory triggered. Must break silence to rant. Atom and his Package. NO. Please, PLEASE do not say that. If I ever saw this guy again, I'd probably be forced to put my fist through his head. Yay! An annoying, not-funny guy with a shrill, pain-inducing voice squawking over bad, bad, bad, BAD music. It boggles the mind how this guy has gotten popular. The population of masochistic idiots must be on the rise. Okay, there's my violent opinion of the month. On Tue, 17 Jul 2001, Mage wrote:

Agreed. And it was disappointing to see such a low turnout. I walked in during Stars As Eyes during their last song, so I can't obviously judge them on that alone, but the one track I heard was rather Seefeel-ish. Reading all the reviews here of Cex's show, I knew what to expect, got exactly that, and enjoyed it. I agree to some extent that the music mostly took a backseat to Cex's rappin's.. and would have been more intrigued if he was able to pull off a great frontman act *and* some amazing noises/beatz in the forefront as well, but I give Ryjan creds for being as entertaining in between and during songs as, say, guitarists Chris Knox (Tall Dwarfs) and John Darnielle (Mountain Goats), to make analogies -- especially for an electronic act. His freestylin' at the end ("chicken", "squirrels", and "Mr. T") was hilarious... he should apply to be on "Whose Line Is It, Anyway?" Kid 606 did a great set.. probably the most danceable and accessible I've seen him do live. Again, too bad there was a sparse crowd. He ended his Seattle set with a really great cover song. (E-mail me to get the answer, as I don't want to spoil it for those of you about to see the live show) ======================================================================= Brian MacDonald <brianm@kuci.org> ======================================================================= On Tue, 17 Jul 2001, Mage wrote:

Whether by choice or chance I know not, but said tour is not passing through NYC. The closest stops are the 22nd in Cleveland and the 25th in Baltimore. If you've got the means I highly recommend catching it. Or check your favorite mp3 source for some live boots which are apparently floating about. check http://www.tigerbeat6.com/cex for more info. Woops. I need to put down the lie and pick up the truth. I dont have any specific info, and depending on where you look on the website, it says Cex is playing August 2nd or August 19th in NYC. Count on hearing more soon though.
