hey ppl,
thought you guys might be interested to know that Merck Records is now
available for legal mp3 download @ emusic.com :)
in fact, the latest electronica additions:
http://www.emusic.com/mason/new_arrivals/5/
..includes the two Merck compilations ("Squadron" and "Aurora"), plus the
Syndrone and Machine Drum albums (i hear the first MD album is due on there
soon, too..).
other cool stuff include a big load of additions from classic Chicago house
label Trax, oh, and some amusing booty bass from Pandisc :P

the thing i like best about emusic is that it can totally broaden your
musical horizons - cases in point:
Fantasy + sublabels (great jazz + much more)
http://www.emusic.com/labels/5949/
Shanachie group of labels (lots of different dirs, in this case, reggae!)
http://www.emusic.com/labels/6242/
Epitaph (punk grr punk)
http://www.emusic.com/labels/68/

[as mentioned, although the emusic.com is only 128kbps and there's no liner
notes or coverscans, it's at least freely distributable normal mp3s - tho
there's a danger of this changing when emusic integrates properly with
Universal's Duet subscription music scheme. if you're conservative, just pay
$19.99 for the one month subscription and leech everything in sight!]
later,
h0l.
