gosh, some of you are really irritating. saying things to the effect of "all these AE fans are too brainwashed to realize the new AE stuff is crap" is such a load of bollocks. For one thing, I didn't even LIKE ae till very recently, and it's because of Lp5 and Ep7 and the tracks i've heard off of Confield (the one with the flash video on warprecords.com and the one that they were just playing on the main page) are very much to my liking. On the other hand, i find Tri Repeate++ irritatingly repetitive. Great melodies and sounds but the same measure or two of beats repeating for 8 minute with occasional changes really begins to grate on my nerves. So basically, those of you who think the new AE is junk and that those of us who like it are fooling ourselves, at least in this case AE has changed into a group i LOVE from one that i thought was just "alright". so effin' shut it. :) (i appologize for continuing the flame war, but this perspective, of the "new AE" fan, has been under represented among the throngs of long time die hards. Hope someone appreciated this post at least half as much as it was catharic to write.) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Personally, I think "Radio" is the best thing they've ever done. Just the right mix of interesting, innovative, and ass-shakin'. I've been listening to them since Incunabula (I still remember the jaw drop when "Bike" started coming out of my speakers - it seemed like noone else was doing that with music, at the time) - I missed Amber, and have yet to hear anything from that one, which my friends tell me is a huge oversight, and have every album, and a smattering of singles/eps thereafter. The feeling I get from Autechre's music is that they are going somewhere with it; to me, each album seems to represent a progression towards that, an evolution of the style they developed in the previous release. So far I've liked each of the stages - I don't think I'm a "disciple" as I'm fairly firm in the conviction that I'll not buy their records if I don't like the sounds therein... I think Lp5 is a great record, although I struggled with it at first - Ep7 I've not listened to much, so I can't really pass comment, beyond a vague feeling that I liked about half of it. Confield, I've owned for two days, and on that short period of listening, I have to say, I *really* like this one - side C seems to fit the description "difficult", at least to my recollection, but the other tunes(?) grabbed me pretty much immediately - I've a feeling that I'll be listening to this one a lot.

Personally, I like that mid period stuff - I'm not as fond of Trirepetae as I am of Chiastic Slide, but I liked it. -- "First Rule of Robot Club: You do not talk about Robot Club."
