so anyway, we have established that Aphex probably doesn't even know that his music is being used to fight the drug war. This means that the question I asked in my initial post: Is Aphex a sellout? can be answered "No." and can be replaced by the declaration that Warp records must be the sellouts... Personally, if my label (not that I have one) sold my song to be used in an anti-drug or an anti-choice or anti anything else I believed in propaganda, I would sever my relationship with them and have a press release protesting agaist it, but just because Aphex isn't doing this doesn't mean he's a sellout. Maybe it means nothing whatsoever... It won't affect my listening to him at all, just like the beatles Nike ad doesn't affect my listening to the Beatles... Now, metallica is another story, because thoese guys personally attacked Napster... AND they had in the past admitted to trading tapes in their formative years.... once again, peace out my brothers and sisters in music madness --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Warp records arent sellouts either... the song wasnt changed or anything. you've misunderstood the meaning of the word sellout. its been said in this thread before, & ill just repeat it: selling out is compromising your artistic freedom to gain money/fame. -Carthh--- Josh Brown said at Ò[idm] Re: Aphex drugs etc...Ó. I think if you look at the specifics of that campaign, they're actually fairly good. I mean encouraging kids to get into art/music/creation instead of drugs. I can see how you could be down with that even if you like drugs yourself or generally dislike the anti-drug machine of the government. I'd add some idm content, but i know this post will be deleted by anybody looking for that. - cutups ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brian Gause" <BGause@zaplet.com> To: <CarthagTuek@USA.Com>; <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Wednesday, May 09, 2001 2:46 PM Subject: RE: [idm] Re: Aphex drugs etc...
