OK, so we all know what some people are liking right now, but what are we all looking forward to? (And don't anybody say things like "Aphex's next album" - let's not be looking forward to vaporware). Here's some stuff I can't wait to hear: Freeform - everything he's releasing this year, if it doesn't end up being delayed again. especially the Skam album... Proem - negativ (and the other upcoming stuff; he's forcing me to buy a minidisc!) I'm cautious since he's really only had one album, but I expect to be satisfied Squarepusher (who isn't?) Plaid (ditto!) Hrvatski - I'm just really really curious what his upcoming Planet Mu album is going to be like. So many people seem to love this guy, and all I've been able to hear is the Oiseaux album of old tracks, and a few compilation tracks here and there. I guess I'm really just hoping that it's not going to be too similar to the other recent Planet Mu stuff like Pthalocyanine, Venetian Snares, and that Hellfish stuff. I like fucked up and hard, but somehow this stuff just rubs me wrong. Mira Calix! Everyone must buy her next single! I'm waiting for any new release by Vladislav Delay. This man has taken me in so many directions in th past year or so, starting with Entain and Multila which still seem new (and even the parts that I've memorized are still so cathartic), moving on to Uusitalo, Conoco and Luomo and the various compilation tracks. Anima is such a tough album to listen to all the way through, but it is still such a superb experience. If "Holiday" off the new Clicks n Cuts is any indication of what to expect from him in the coming months, I will be oh so happy. I think that Anima was his great conclusion to a melancholic output phase, and that "Holiday" and his Luomo stuff represents a move to beautifully contented, even happy music... :) Anyway, he is by far my favorite producer. I know that if he had never come out and made this type of shit, my own music would have evolved eventually to become extremely similar to his Multila and Entain stuff. Now I gotta figure out a new sound :) Also: Jan Jelinek/Farben/Gramm -- can't wait to hear what this guy's doing. What another unique sound. Gramm's Personal Rock does weird things to my head :) Nick Rapaccioli -- everything I've heard by him is top-notch. His remix of Pub's Summer is brilliant, and his new EP is an exercise in superb circuitous dramatics. Deep n dubby.. mmmm..... Arovane -- so much has been said of them, so suffice to say that they are among the top artists out there. The can do it all as good if not better than anyone. Scott Herren (Delarosa & Asora, Savath & Savalas, Seely, Prefuse 73) -- Pure genius. This guy is going to fuse together a lot of genres and artists from all over the board. He already has, and the fact that he's worked with people like MF Doom and Aesop ROCK is so cool. My three favorite genres of music (post-rock, idm, hip-hop) are melding and it's so frickin exciting. :) And Scott Herren is embodying the spirit of this integration... I see Tortoise w/ Nobukazu Takemura and Prefuse 73 in two weeks !!! Also I can't wait for the Fondle 'Em comp. on Co Flow's Def Jux label, the new Bjork, and the new Andrea Parker. vzaem

looking forward to: new Marumari, BoC, Oval, Bjork, Squarepusher, Hrvatski, Cex, Autechre (coming soon to a record store in new jersey where i had to spell their name 3 times in order to order a copy, haha.) as for Aphex, i read an interview in some mag (i forget which) which was primarily about rephlex, but it mentioned that he might put out a quadruple cd, "when the time is right." I'd say the time is right now! also looking forward to getting my mits on the new lesser and venetian snares albums, and also exploring some of the more obscure artists mentioned on here with some regularity. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? As the person responsible for the Brainwashed listings, I must remind you of the disclaimer that appears at the top of the page that states "These dates are always subject to change, so don't blame us if a release is delayed, cancelled or otherwise unavailable on the announced date." In the case of Kraftwerk - there have been about eight different estimated release dates given for a new album over the time that I've been doing the release listings page. June was simply the latest estimated date - and given the fact that there have been no demos leaked or official date announcements by this point, I don't epxect it'll happen. So I'll be sticking it back down into the "TBA" section soon. :) Greg --- Greg Clow - greg@stainedproductions.com - greg@feedbackmonitor.com concert & event promotions - http://www.stainedproductions.com electronic music radio/reviews/interviews - http://www.feedbackmonitor.com 158 Close Ave. 2nd Floor - Toronto, Ontario M6K 2V5 - Canada --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Regarding Four Tet, is he a little more varied on his album? I've heard his Aphex remix on Warp 10+3 and another remix on Collaborations 2; I was struck by the fact that both tracks used that music box-sounding instrument. Does he use that on every song? -Ryan

What I've heard (Dialogue and some remixes) is a really varied collection of stuff. It's all in the same post-rock/idm vein, but the instrumentation and composition change from track to track. If his afx remix knocked you sideways like it did me, you should buy the full-length. His main project, Fridge, is of course also worth checking out. Lukas (and don't let the post-rock label put you off, either. I hadn't been impressed by anything I'd heard in that category until I heard Fridge and Four Tet) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
