Found this info about FSOL on another discussion list and thought it might be of interest to this list... --------------------------------------------------------------- After a long absence, on Sat 26 Aug 2000, FSOL's Garry Cobain showcased new material at Metamorphose show, Techno Music Summer Festival, Asagiri Heights campground, Mt Fuji, Japan. The whole festival was beamed live to the web including two performances of FSOL's set on the outdoor ambient and main stages, titled "The Future Sound of London present The Mello Hippo Disco Show" "A Psychedelic dj Experience". This is almost concrete proof that FSOL are back with a new release just around the corner.... :-) :-> Is there anyone who captured this performance? If so, please contact me privately. FSOL are also to appear as guests on BBC Radio 1's "One World" show in the new year (i.e. 2001). According to Radio 1 : "One World will see in the year 2001 with a bang! Featured guests will include Mr C, LTJ Bukem, Erykah Badu, Ninja Tunes, Thievery Corporation, Photek, Alex Gopher, Future Sound Of London, and a special live performance by 4 Hero and MJ Cole. FSOL will be doing a version of the Mellow Hippo Disco show .... probably Feb or March." With a live airing of new material on Radio 1 to herald the new album, FSOL will, most than likely continue their tradition of broadcasting further live shows to other radio stations around the world during the rest of the year. Again, if anyone is going to capture or has captured some of this, please contact me privately... A further delay with the new FSOL material means that its going to be early 2001 before the new album sees the light of day. With light at the end of the tunnel it looks as if FSOL have achieved total metamorphosis for the new album. Drawing yet deeper from the archives of sound FSOL are working to become the past as well as the future. A source close to FSOL had this to say : "The new FSOL album has just been delivered to Virgin. The current situation is they are basically getting the artwork together. You will not be expecting what it sounds like at all. The first single is probably the most unlike the old FSOL. Various 60/70s musicians have contributed to the new album. Contributors include bassist Herbie Flowers (Space Oddity, Walk on the Wildside) and guitarist Gary Lucas (Cpt. Beefheart), Catrin Roberts (Mao) and Anjali (Singer?). Unfortunately I have to report that the album release has been put back again. This is purely because we want to make sure that everything is ready for a strong campaign and also because the samples still aren't cleared yet. However, we are talking very early next year (i.e. 2001) so you will be hearing and seeing them this side of Christmas." ------------------------------------------------ -->-Lance---- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
