Well...hi! :) I'm new to this list (maybe someone knows me from the Dirtylist) and I just wanted to say "hello"... Maybe you're sick of stupid "Hello-saying" mails, but I don't care :) To make it even worse: I'm from germany and I'm starting to discover IDM recently. That's why I probably won't post that much: I usually can't put my thoughts into english words, but I'll manage it. Well, at least I'll try. Among my favourite artists you can find: Aphex Twin (with all pseudonyms), Autechre, Underworld, Orbital, FSOL, Plaid, Squarepusher, Radiohead and also some downtempo/trip hop stuff like Portishead, K&D, Massive Attack.....mainly electronica as you can see (can't stand hip hop/rap), and I'm always looking for something new. enough for now. over & out »Eikman« -] http://www.eikman.net [-

I get a lot of ideas from hip hop/rap. Has anyone heard the new Missy Elliot song? I think it is so good, kind of borderline IDM rhythms going on there. IHHM!!! I have DJ Shadow's "Endtroducing" and love it, I also have everything of the Beastie Boys, some Deltron 3030 and many other stuff. But compared to electronica, it's only a very small part. It's not that I absolutely detest hip hop, of course there is some great stuff outta there, but I can't stand that gangsta rap á la 2Pac, Wu-Tang etc....and I absolutely hate german hip hop (all germans on this list know what I mean ;)

no, not yet. I haven't downloaded it yet because I feared the napster fakes. I'm careful, since I downloaded the new Daft Punk album, listened to it for 2 weeks before I realized that half of the songs were fakes...hehe...and I just began to like it. well, I guess radiohead are more unique than daft punk (because of thom yorke's voice). I'll check the website, thanks for the link. cheers, »Eikman« -] http://www.eikman.net [- ----- Original Message ----- From: Jamie Johnson To: »Eikman« Sent: Friday, April 27, 2001 11:01 PM Subject: Re: [idm] yet another member >>(can't stand hip hop/rap) Perhaps you should try some DJ Shadow, Blackalicious, Latyrx, Jurassic 5, Anticon, or other non-mainstream hip-hop...its good, I promise! Jamie Johnson P.S. I dig radiohead, autechre, portishead, and all of the other stuff on your list of favorites, so I'm not just some hip-hop fan trying to get you to like hip-hop. P.P.S. speaking of radiohead, have you heard "amnesiac" yet...if you havent', I 'm sure you could download it somewhere on the net (I got mine at www.ateaseweb.com ), it's quite good.
