you want the k5000w because the k5000s, while having cool knobs, is only 4 part multitimbral, and that is only w/ a multi hack. the k5000w is 16 part multitimbral on the A bank, and another 16 parts on the b/gm bank. if you can find a peavey pc1600, you can make that do all the same stuff the knobs on the s do, along w/ more for your other gear. The only advantage to the R unit, besides being small is that it outputs arp'ed data via midi (obviously) but the s version does not. The s and r have great arps. The W has no arp, and a mediocre seq. s and w have very nice keyboards. The w can transmit on any channel by using the seq mode, and setting to a patch that is empty, like A120. This is a hack I came up with (yes i have no shame). So the w works real nice as a master controller too. i love the k5000 and i know everything about it (says my unabashed ego). any questions or desiring sound samples, email privately and i'll hook you up phat d00d (tongue in cheek on the k-rad peeps). -jesse http://www.tuj.dyndns.org/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
