Anyone know of any djs out there who spin stuff that could still be classified as "danceable" house/techno but that is on more of a experimental tip? I'm thinking along the lines of Mille Plateaux/Force Inc. clicks and cuts type stuff. I also like Brinkmann and the Studio 1 records. And I'm listening to real audio samples of someone called Sturm who I'm digging. Anyone know of mixes I might listen to online with this sort of feel? Is there anyone who finds this stuff dancefloor-suitable? Now that I am learning how to spin--will I be the first to take clicks and cuts to the dancefloor? Probably not, I imagine, so I'd like to hear who *is* doing that. Any suggestions?

A lot of the producers of this style are good DJs and spin it out... I've heard mixes by Twerk and Kit Clayton that are both quite good. In addition to that, I've seen DJs like Derek Plaslaiko from Detroit (find sets of his on Napster and www.paxahau.com) or Brad Kraft from Minneapolis play really good stuff in this vein. The king, in my opinion, though, is Herbert... Check out his mix CD on Tresor and also Daniel Bell's mix CD (The Button Down Mind of Daniel Bell)... They're both great. -- :: atomly :: atomly@atomly.com | atomly@atdot.org | atomly@curiousnetworks.com http://www.atomly.com | http://www.mp3.com/atomly --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Andrew Weatherall's Hypercity on Forcetracks (out 15 May) and Matthew Herbert's Letsallmakemistakes (out now on Tresor) are stellar examples of what you're seeking. The Button Down Mind of Dan Bell on Tresor is also good. Wide variety of styles. There are a few of us around who spin that style of music tho'. I find it impossible to get gigs with a promotional mix of that sort tho'. People always say, 'oh it's nice downtempo house'... On Tue, 17 Apr 2001, Dave Segal wrote:

Dan Bell's Globus Mix 4 (also on Tresor). Probably more of a minimal house tip, with Brinkmann, Farben, Herbert, Losoul, Ricardo Villalobos and Dan Bell himself. On a different bpm, has anyone heard the Pole mix on WMF called 'Komfort.Labor'? A Jockey Slut review said the tracklisting included Kit Clayton, Dr Rockit, Cinematic Orchestra, Process and Low Res. MMmmmmmm. The review also said that Betke has a monthly backroom residency at WMF, which is Berlin's oldest house club...anyone ever been? What's the go?

Wait a little bit and you'll have Andrew Weatherall's Hypercity, which is composed exclusively of Force Inc. and Force Tracks material by all the usual clicking suspects. It's quite enjoyable, danceable, too... laz ben nevile wrote:

Once a month on Saturday, called Scape label night (sometimes not :-). Barbara Preisinger and (sometimes) Pole djing, sometimes Pole live, sometimes guests. All flavours of dub and minimal music. Bye Sebastian, who hasn't been there for too long :-( --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
