what are people's thoughts on this album, have you heard it? i have always been a kinda-fan of Plaid, i generally like some of the songs on every album they've released, but often the overall cheery, poppy sort of cutesy melodies and mood they establish on every album isn't the sort of thing i'm often in the mood to listen to. but this digging remedy is different, without saying it's 'dark' per se, because it just isn't DARK compared to a lot of other artists but compared to past releases for Plaid its absolutely darkER. there is some really impressive effect trickz and stuff going on, a great sort of somber/lonely/hopeful atmosphere going on, hints of BoC here and there maybe, but its still clearly unmistakably Plaid i mean they have their whole smooth flowing structure and lovely delicate sounds in there... i really DIG this album, might be the first Plaid album i buy in years, just wondering if anyone else has the same impression? I'll have to listen to it a few more times. It hasn't really done much for me yet. Not For Threes and Rest Proof Clockwork are still the only two that do it for me from start to finish. On Fri, Jun 24, 2016 at 11:27 AM, Clint Anderson <clinta@gmail.com> wrote:

After a good few listens, I thinks its really good. A bit darker than Reachy Prints. The melodic/harmonic elements are undeniably synonymous to Plaid. The rhythmic structures keep my interest as always and the general overall tone captures the infinite. Sound design and waveform generation are top notch really. The final mixes are always immaculate!! Since Scintilli Plaid have definitely gone back to what they do well. Excellent album in my opinion!! It's been in heavy rotation around here. Agreed that it feels like a return of Plaid to true form - what always pulled me in to the music was melody and arrangement. I read somewhere (Pitchfork review?) that it was repeat ideas but maybe it's also because I'm more about subtle refinement over time, not the Music Is Rotted type public experiments. Also, I'm not going to expect Plaid to do the dark an heavy really well. Stuff like Held or Melifer is what I go to Plaid for, it's got polish and finesse. But I'm just a guy sitting in his basement in the midwest. No idea if I make sense but that's my take. On Tue, Jun 28, 2016 at 2:33 PM, jimmy wormall <darqhorse303@yahoo.co.uk> wrote:

I appreciate Plaid enough that I give them some attention when they release new stuff. Normally after a few listens and ending up with a couple favourites, none of them have me returning again and again and I move on fairly quickly. I also never really like a whole album and feel similarly to Chris (*"**cutesy twee melodies with little tiny music box sounds"*). Before this morning, my main comments on The Digging Remedy were that it starts off strong and tails off. I really like the IMMEDIATE Tron vibes from the intro track followed by the darkness of Dilatone and I was repeating those two tracks as if listening to a two track EP. But, after listening to the whole album on the way to work this morning whilst in a really bad mood, something clicked and it seemed to work better. I don't know if it's just that or if after a few more listens it has just grown on me, but I'm wanting to listen again rather than just trying it again before discarding it. It's playing now while I'm at my desk typing this and I'm really enjoying it. Mem On 29 June 2016 at 13:11, Chris Taylor <christaylor415@gmail.com> wrote:

Mehmet -- this is exactly my response, I actually found myself WANTING to revisit the album again and again although i couldn't put my finger on what made this different than previous plaid album i THINK its because its maybe just a more sophisticated mode/mood that the album is in, not just butterflies and daffodils and twee bullshit like on the previous ones like they took their melodic, catchy pop chops and applied them to make an actually introspective/halfway serious album Clint Anderson Systems Engineer "Freedom -- paint me a picture!" -- Burton Cummings On Thu, Jun 30, 2016 at 4:42 AM, Mehmet Ismail <mehmet.ismail85@gmail.com> wrote:
