This guy blasts ae then goes on to laud Plaid? Plaid whose two cds are nearly indistinguishable from each other and are very very similar to their black dog stuff?!?!?!? Plaid who don't really have an inventive, avant garde bone in their body?>>> but whoever did write this surely didn't come from the AI days of IDM. If so, I just don't understand the above statements. I'm not entering a discussion on Ae vs. Plaid (i don't think it's a fair comparison whatsoever; apples/oranges IMO) but to say they aren't inventive and their CDs sound similar? I don't see it... I'm amazed anyone can say negative things about Plaid it just doesn't register in my brain. but then they're not my ears he's using when he listens to 'em... argh. g "Anything that separates us is junk. Last Plaid's album was really inventive and great listener's delight as well. It is not fair to comparison Plaid and Ae either, I totally agree, but what Plaid did in Restproof Clockwork is a step from their older material like Amber was after Incunabula and Basscadet (I know this comparison sucks). Alien still np. Initial Release 8)) -----Original Message----- From: Gilly [mailto:galaxey@sdccu.net] Sent: Wednesday, April 11, 2001 11:12 AM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: [idm] Dissing Plaid??? Plaid doesn't come from the AI days of IDM. Black Dog does, but we're not talking about Black Dog. Autechre comes from the AI days of IDM and look how much they have progressed. And yea, Plaid's cds do sound similar, I find it hard to believe someone could fool himself into thinking they don't. Anyway I like Plaid alright, and while I wouldn't recommend them over Mouse on Mars, I'm still glad I bought them, I guess. On Wed, 11 Apr 2001, Gilly wrote:
