you would if you couldn't find something out on the floor, asked a salesperson, and got a response like "oh, i think we have that, ask so-and-so over there. he can get it from the stock room." then that person coudln't help you, etc. if you can't think to ask for something that *isn't out* on the floor, that's your problem.

Well, if it's not on the floor, chances are they don't have it anywhere accessible. I suppose you might get a response similar to the one you described if you saw some rare stuff listed as available on their website (via their DB search engine) and went in there asking for it.
