shame on you. i can understand disappointment over not having a local show, but 'the chinese have their own music to listen to' is wack. the last show in vancouver was very well attended. lots of us from seattle drove up (some of us didn't even have the luxury of staying overnight) and the show was packed. and yes, it was kickass. and you know what? some were brown, some were yellow, etc. a lot of us were thrilled to be there. how many torontonians does it take to screw in a lightbulb? one. the rest of the country revolves around us. s. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

hehe.. I didn't even notice Montreal. I like Autechre, but I don't think I'd travel 6 hours just to see them. I've heard they're complete noise live, and it's not even worth it. the Terrace place is really a great venue for this, I think its awesome that Autechre are playing there. It be cool to see this show. And yes mr.shilling it is possible due to the fact that The Terrace club is a bit like a living house for Princeton U students (its known to the be the gay/bi friendly /lax/not uptight house) but has a terrace (hence the name). A friend of mine who works at Princeton Record Exchange has performed there several times and I've snuck into the kitchen to grab cereal. If you are in the area check out the princeton record exchange as their vinyl electronic section is beefing up and i have to tie my hands every time i go in there; their jazz and funk section pretty much rock too...oh & say hello to rudi for me. d -----Original Message----- From: Ryan Schilling [mailto:ryanschilling@subdimension.com] Sent: Friday, March 16, 2001 11:18 AM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [idm] Re: Autechre U.S. Tour Dates So they're playing outdoors, but also in the building that you lived in, eh? I went to ticketmaster in hopes of scoring a ticket early to the LA show, but all they have in their listings are two shows that weren't on the recently posted list of dates. I thought some of you might want to know about them: Sat 05/12/01 QUEST CLUB MINNEAPOLIS MN Fri 05/25/01 9:30 CLUB WASHINGTON DC Presumably the itinerary will become even more fleshed out as time goes on, so those of you who are fretting about them not stopping in your town should sit tight. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? You probably don't have much to worry about. The venue still says TBA, but ever since Mike Thrasher took over Pine Street, almost every electronic show has played there (and Satyricon's booking has been throttled by his ridiculous vise grip on the touring companies). So you can look forward to bad ventilation and disgruntled alcoholics, but you can probably also look forward to a show. Although, come to think of it, the last Warp act that came through hit Lola's, so you might still have to sit on crossed fingers for awhile or use this as an excuse to finally pick up a decent ID (Oregon's, luckily, is one of the easiest to make yourself). As for peeps complaining because some big cities have been overlooked for small ones this time around--- well, I for one am grateful. I'm assuming Autechre has played Toronto before, but they definitely have not played Portland, at least not since I've been paying attention. Nice of them to drop in on our fair city. And it really is good to see them playing irregular midsection stops like Columbus. I do hope that anyone who wants to see them is able to, but the "only the biggest cities, only the biggest crowds" approach to touring, while understandable from the band's perspective, generally means that it's the same people who get to see everything, and it's nice to see Autechre departing from that in a few cases even though they're making only a small tour. <<preparing to move even *farther* off the main touring path.....>> M. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

This is somewhat comforting. I recall being fucked out of seeing mu-ziq and luke vibert by lola's...Last electronic show at Pine Street I saw was Mouse on Mars. Or wait, no, it was the Ninja Tune tour, Tobin headlining. Both kicked ass.

Excellent! I heard about this last night, but didn't know whether it was actually going to happen. My club, Campus, is co-sponsoring the event with Terrace, so I'm definitely going to be there. Of course I'd be there anyway, but it's nice to know I won't have to bribe or murder. :) And I'll second Ms. Potts's recommendation for the Record Exchange -- it's one of the things (if not THE thing) I'll miss most about Princeton once I'm out of here. Truly a great place to go, especially if you're also into classical music and/or have a vinyl craving. For those who don't know him, the humble abbot arthur purvis, original poster about this Autechre event, is the former activities chair (booking agent etc.) of Terrace. He's a cool guy, and knows way more than the next guy about experimental music. So when he posts, you listen. Who else is from the Princeton area? Howard Shih, I know you're out there -- who else am I gonna see? Peter "Diana Potts" <diapot@allmusic.com> wrote:
