Yeah I know this has NOTHING to do with this list, but I figured quite a few people reside in the UK, so perhaps you would have insight on this topic? I currently have a Wharfedale750, but would like to get a PS2 if it IS/can be made region-free. I actually only care about Region 1 and 2, so if anyone has had any luck with this PLEASE PLEASE let me know. If you could, reply to this or to me (djohn1@home.com) Thanks a MILLION! - Dan John Media Designer ------------------ mediapollution.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Very simply put, different countries have different "copy protection" on DVD movies to make them UNviewable in other countries. There are DVD players that can play ALL DVDs, but the north american Playstation2 can only play 1 region, and I want one that can play them all :) I'm not asking for much am I? hehe - Dan J. -----Original Message----- From: mantra [mailto:mantra@neferiu.com] Sent: March 7, 2001 8:19 PM To: Dan John; idm@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: [idm] Playstation 2 Multi-Region DVDs??? what does that mean, multi-region dvd's? cheers for any info.. nate@neferiu www.neferiu.com -----Original Message----- From: Dan John [mailto:djohn1@home.com] Sent: Tuesday, March 06, 2001 1:30 AM To: IDM Subject: [idm] Playstation 2 Multi-Region DVDs??? If you can find a SPCH 10000 Japanese PS2 with the 1.0 DVD drivers (stored on the memory card) you can watch any region DVD's. However, these are extremely rare now, and you would pay an arm and a leg. It would be cheaper to buy a region-specific DVD player for the region you want instead. jOyREX www.joyrex.com Dan John wrote:
