Wow, that track at the Warp site really blows me away. ('VI Code Spoilse' - click on the link under 'Warp News Headlines' at http://www.warprecords.com) I wasn't very interested in 'ep7' cos I found it way too crunchy and compressed... zero dynamics, lots of noise, over 70 minutes... I think there are people doing more interesting sound design than that. This new track strikes me as similarly adventurous, but the actual choice of sounds is much more in keeping with my tastes. The subtly shifting rhythms culminating and pops and bursts (maybe just my modem connection, but sounding good ;-) reminded me some of Zammuto's 'Willscher'. Michael np. Haven't heard the new track but I have the second Peel Sessions CD. I agree with you completely about EP7. Never really understood the hype. This is just speculation on my part but I think most of the tracks on EP7 were created before they discovered MAX/MSP. I came across this ae MSP patch that plays differently every time you start and stop it with the space bar. It's pretty cool. I'm pretty sure the Peel Sessions tracks were made in a similar manner. -------------------- -l[e^2] *new { ^this.shouldNotImplement(thisMethod) } --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I had the same exact thought the first time I listened to the track. At first, I didn't like the track that much but it has grown on me, as they say. Quite different from recent releases. Nice hypnotic/"blinding" feel to it. But that could be because I'm relatively tired and it has been looping incessantly for about half an hour... -- Guillaume Grenier - gollum@videotron.ca in space there is no north in space there is no south in space there is no east in space there is no west --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Have to disagree. I think ep7 was phenominal. We can't expect a band to do the same thing every time. Growth is important. peace, Chad

Which lines of the following, which you did quote in its entirety, lead you to believe that either myself or Lee was expecting Autechre to do the same thing, or that either of us consider growth unimportant?

I don't mean to single out Chad, attempting to dismiss someone's opinion by labelling them as anti-change seems to be a very common piece of rhetoric this list. Michael np. If I have misunderstood your post, then I appologise. No offense was intended. Basically, I am tired of seeing people put down ep7 all the time. I really like autechre and their work. I think ep7 was a fine release. I hate to see innovators get bashed all of the time. My appologies, Chad
