i have much respect for xlr8r. you wouldn't see this in URB. although i was looking in an urb from a while back and i was surprised to find SOME idm related content. but i stopped looking when i saw armand on the cover all pimplike. and xlr8r remains so cheap too. of course that means many ads, but that's fine. just some more bad design to laugh at. buying the world a coke, teaching them to sing in perfect harmony, alland. : and now its time for the samurai math attack : mathematics strikes back : --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

you should be. red snapper are said to totally kick ass live :D does anyone know if the warp-in-USA thing will attract any of these artists to do USA tours? i would think red snapper should be able to sell out some small venues... esp. in minneapolis ;)

I'd also recommend his older "Permutation" album, as well. less movie-like, darker, although sometimes more repetitive (i.e. sordid, fast eddie). my fav. amon tobin tracks are on "permutation." cheers, /derek --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Really interesting interview with BOC in the new XLR8R (They're on the cover!). Actually answered some of the questions about their music which I've had for a while....ie how much of what the do is intentional. Apparently, it's all very intentional. First Jockey Slut...now this.....in magazines that are dancefloor oriented....looks like BOC are without a doubt the new IDM stars. =) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

hey - don't give up hope yet. there is an old adage that says don't judge a book by its' cover. urb's cover decisions are primarily dictated by economics and sales (as they should be, if they expect to survive) but if you leaf through the mag you might be surprised. you can't expect them to cover idm and nothing but as they're trying to appeal to a broad spectrum of tastes (and yes, some people *do* want to hear about the latest exploits of oakey and pete tong, believe it or not...) - and all in all they do a good job of that, imho. check next month's issue of urb when it drops - fat 3-4 page feature on schematic that i think some of you might be interested to read. not to mention the experimental and abstract 12" sections that are always worth a look. ===== Brock Phillips Motormouthmedia 2525 Hyperion Ave. #1 Los Angeles, CA 90027 fon 323.662.3865 fax 323.662.3844 email bmotor@pacbell.net __________________________________________________ Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! Why I sent Urb a copy of STR 003 - because they always review things a few months late, so I figured they were desperate for records. Because they had "abstract" and "experimental" pages. Because they reviewed albums of artists I hadn't previously expected to find in Urb. I used to read Urb fairly regularly a few years back, when I was more into dancy dancy music (and when it seemed much better - San Francisco hasn't done much lately) and I still pick it up from time to time, so don't slag it too bad. Heck, they reviewed us. Hrvatski did a guest review for them. I see records in there all the time that I've only previously read about on IDM. Urb's not all good, but it's better than say, Alternative Press, which really does pander and then obscure. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
