I've got all these three (Patashnik being my favourite) - but can somebody fill in the details about a release titled "Insomnia"? When did this come out? Any good? I * np : 2LS "You are" with German spoken word samples .. weird? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Maybe I am prejudiced, but I like all of Biosphere's work so far. Patashnik is the most 'techno' album of these three. About half of the tracks are beatless. Substrata and Cirque are more similar: long tracks, very moody, makes you think of deserted lands, strong winds, etcetera. Brilliant! Also check out the 2nd album he did with Higher Intelligence Agency called 'Birmingham frequencies'!!!

Beautiful album. Not many actual songs, but more structures of them. Very nice album. Was my album of the year when it came out!

'Famous' anti criminal justice bill ep. Two out of three tracks are 'non-repetetive' and, though not the best of Autechre, is worth getting. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

lost in popchorus and words autechre 'anti' is prolly the least essential Ae release I can think of... it seems to be considered worth it for the sentiment, though the second track "Djarum" or something like is the only track I ever feel like listening to again.... if you haven't got 'garbage' or 'anvil vapre' check them out instead..... and thats my two pence :) xxx -----Original Message----- From: Andi [mailto:instruments_of_interest@yahoo.co.uk] Sent: 13 November 2000 18:40 To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: [idm] nightmares on wax/elecktroids/biosphere/fsol/autechre hi, could someone please tell me what their feelings are on any or all of the following? thanks a million in advance :) nightmares on wax 'word of science' elecktroids 'elecktroworld' nightmares on wax 'smoker's delight' biosphere 'patashnik' biosphere 'substrata' biosphere 'cirque' future sound of london 'lifeforms' autechre 'anti' Thank you!! this album is excellent. it definitely works more as an album than as a collection of individual tracks, but the tracks themselves are beautiful. most everything on there is really melodic, but articulates a lot of interesting atmospheres. if you can find it, check out the single for "lifeforms" as well. the track titles are just like, "path one," "path 2," etc. If I remember correctly, there are seven songs; however, it feels like one long and intricate soundscape. there's some cool vox on the first track, too. z _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Biosphere: Patashnik - One of the finest albums I own. A fantastic mix of dark, eerie ambience and distorted rhythms. I believe Novelty Waves was used on a Levi Jeans advert once. Substrata - Beatless, windswept ambience conjuring images of frozen tundra blah blah blah. Other people could put it much better than me, but suffice it to say that Substrata is another of the finest albums I own. This album is so atmospheric it almost changes the environment around you when you listen to it. Cirque - Not quite as good as either Substrata or Patashnik, Cirque is something of a hybrid between the two. It retains the swirling, chilly ambience of Substrata and combines it with the crackling, distorted rhythms and percussion of Patashnik to great effect. )Jamesq. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

biosphere 'substrata' biosphere 'cirque' both are really nice, contemplative audio collages i would say. Personally i highly reccommend both cds, i recently discovered these myself. Good stuff. Not a heavy beat thing or anything like that, very floaty distant soundscape stuff that for me does a good job of keeping your attention through out kinda reminds me a little of tomas knoner. i perfer substrata, but have heard that more than cirque. -scott --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
