To whoever asked about Nico and recordings from that time that are also interesting, I would recommend in addition to "The End", Nico's "The Marble Index" which is also great. Also cool are Areski and Brigitte Fontaine's recordings, specifically "L'Indendie" and "je ne connais pas cet homme". Another great cd is Bill Holt's "Dreamies" record.. and of course if you are into Broadcast, you've probably heard of the United States of America, which is a decent record, as well, although nothing exceptional. All krautrock from that period is great (Faust, Can, Harmonia, Neu!, Kraftwerk).. I would recommend the first two Roxy Music albums if you liked Eno's synthwork on "The End." There's much more, but this is what comes to mind at the moment.. On a different note, can anyone tell me their opinion on the Detroit Escalator Co. "Black Buildings" ep?? Detroit Escalator's Black Buildings new ep gets very high marks from me. Here is a recent writeup i posted about it: After almost a five year absense, Neil Ollivierra has returned with a release of sublime detroit emotion. The first is a double 10" on Peacefrog called Black Buildings which features seven tracks of devine melodic string-laiden detroit ambience and electronica including his track that appeared on last year's Time:Space Transmat compilation. I cant say enough good things about this new DEC release because for me, the sounds represented on this release typify what I love about detroit techno. Definitely a contender for my tops of 2k. A full length DEC cd is forthcoming on Peacefrog and is said to contain several of the tracks from the above release plus some of the better tracks from his epic Soundtrack 313 album from years ago on Ferox. So for those who missed Soundtrack 313 the first time around, you'll have your chance again soon. -->-Lance--- lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
