my 0.02 - everyone's all about ortofons, but i've had
a pair for a couple years (silver concordes) and can't
say that i'm entirely pleased with'em. they have
this recurring problem i've heard a number of people
bitch about with the contacts between the
headshell/tonearm. sound sometimes goes out in one
channel, buzzing etc. random funk etc. - the
older/grimier a setup you're playing on, the worse it
gets. i keep my tables at home in good shape and even
they've started doing this recently with my ortofon
cartridges. there are ways to troubleshoot, but who
wants to bother with licking the ends of cartridges or
rubbing frantically with a pencil eraser trying to
clean the contacts when you're out at a gig and the
dj's record before you is about to end?!? other than
that - i have no beef, they sound good for the money,
but damn are they temperamental when it comes to this
kinda thing...brock
