just got in from the amon tobin show. i thought it was amazing. at first
some iranian guy was playin a hand drum and a really cool violin synth.
for the next hour the dj was just warming up, trying to get people moving,
and he did. the faces and music become a big happy blur, iranian singing
and drumming, tribal drumming, tobins jungle to salsa spiced with videogame
blips, so many recognizable but not pinpointable samples and reworks even.
the floor pretty much cleared about the same time they started spinning
tracks (this might actually been a little after tobin came on:/, but i need
to see a pic)and drumming to it, the music just lost a lot of depth. and
then some emcee came on, and we left. anyone know what the names of the
iranian guys are? i think i heard something about the beat scientists?
point me to pictures so i can put names to da faces. and put them on my
wishlist for santa
