Well, I was working overtime here in nyc on saturday
so I headed to the cinema afterwards and caught a 9 pm
show of Dancer In The Dark up around 60th street...
anyhow I really enjoyed it despite it being a little
too melodramatic for my usual tastes. I'll admit it
made me cry twice, and I haven't cried at the cinema
in years.
Bjork's performace is amazing, though it took me
about 20-30 minutes of the film to accept her as
"Selma" not "Bjork" just because she's such a pop
icon. By the end of the film I was fully convinced of
her as Selma...
The music is both exceptionally interesting and
somehow mediocre or uninvolving. There is one track
that sounds something like Oval for the first 30
seconds or so... Despite not consistently being wowed
by the music I'd have picked up the soundtrack if not
for the absurd number of cds I've recently aquired,
about 20 in the past month, so I've really gotta slow
down / cool it on the cd purchasing front. Haven't had
the time to really absorb the cds yet.
