I'm pretty sure I'd read some people rating this one already on here, and I just wanted to add my 2 cents. I really like it - gentle, with some jazz influences (what sound like they started out as live drums, guitar and trumpet) but not doing the "jazzy" thing (i.e. lushly voiced chords and needless virtuosity) or heading down the Red Snapper path of being kinda turgid and boring. For some reason the only comparison electronic music wise I can make is with Wagon Christ. I don't think it sounds like Wagon Christ, but a fan of say 'Big Soup' probably wouldn't be disappointed by this in the slightest. Yeah, this is a really nice album. I had this on constant replay for a few days. A pretty unique mix of shoegazer style guitar, a sort of non-aggressive/ECMish fusion, subtle DSP mangling, a bit of IDM and other less easy to classify elements done with a found sound sensibility. Non-linear, unpredictable song structures and some cool stylistic juxtapositions. My only complaint is that a bunch of the tunes seem to end abruptly. Contender for top 10 of 2000.

?! Jazz = needless virtuosity ?

I'd say fans of Matmos or Savath + Savalas's "Folk Songs For Trains, Trees and Honey" might also enjoy the Unagi Patrol album.
