There isn't a whole lot of music goin' on on the Gescom md. It's just 45 tracks of snippits of noise that last for a few seconds a piece. A few of the longer ones might last a minute or two, but still just noise, no beats. It seems more like source material for people to sample. Just about any of the other Gescom stuff is wonderful. The This and That 12"s are their best stuff. The Motor 12" isn't that great- sorta leaning toward a Starfish Pool-like sound. Outside of that, their various comp-only tracks are great. Both Keynell 12"s are worth searching out, too. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Well it was meant to be played on 'random'. That was the whole idea behind the MD (according to an interview with Ae). They were impressed with the sounds you could get using the super-fast random function on the MD, so they releases that album....just for that purpose. I havent had the opportunity to listen to it, but Im sure it sounds much cooler when on random than regular. I have experimented with my MD in that way though - putting a short breaks or squelch on a single track and randomising it - very cool results. one of the guys in the Gescom crew told me they did a gig using this technique in manchester ... like ten guys in labcoats with bandages over their faces playing minidiscs of random snippets of top 40 radio hits for 45 minutes. high concept art. josh -- String Theory : Digital Music for Humans http://www.enteract.com/~yoshi/index.cgi On Thu, 3 Aug 2000, ed wrote:
