I'm reading "Techno Rebels" by Dan Sicko a book that came earlier this year, published by Billboard Books. It's a history of Techno and there's a discography at the end of the book too. mediadrome --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Greetings, This book is brilliant. If you are interested in the evolution of Techno, and it origins in Detroit this book is the alpha and the omega. I have had the privilege of reading Dan Sicko's stuff since I was about 14 while he was writing for a short lived weekly called "Anti_matter" in Detroit, as well his writing in URB. Dan has been around for years, and he knows his stuff. He has excellent insights into the History of Detroit; his presentation and understanding of the dynamics involved make this a truly unique and necessary read for anyone involved with electronic music. The sheer volume and diversity of information presented removes the mythological aspect of Detroit, and provides the first truly scholarly, factual display of the origins of Techno. Dan Sicko has done a great service for Detroit Techno, he has taken the well worn ledgend of the Belleville Three, and created a cohesive framework that reads like a story, but never loses sight of the reality of the situation. If you are interested in electronic music, it is necessary that you own a copy of this book. It is that good, you must buy this book at once! Take care, Mike Taylor NP: Pan-American Mediadrome@aol.com wrote:
