has anyone actually listened to klunko's tracks? im curious as to what people think. im always interested in hearing what other list members are doing musically, but i have no internet access so i can never check it out. on a side note: i just picked up kit claytons new lp on ~scape (nek sanalet). this is the best stuff ive heard from kit clayton so far. its deep, dreamy, dubby and beautiful. probably one of my best buys all year. also got ian o'brien's 12" on peacefrog. i was expecting some nice deep house but it turns out to be house with some breakbeats over it. initially i was turned off by the breakbeats but after a few more listens its really growing on me. Ahhh, I see. That's cool. Free e-mail. I've never heard of this Juno program... (notice how I'm trying to avoid the original subject... Read: I'm getting sick of those guys talking about whether something can or cannot be called shit.) BTW/ my take on this whole Klunko thing is that he wants us to give him feedback... Well, if I may be so bold: Matt (Klinko), I hope to god that this isn't insulting. It sound like your just starting out. It's a pretty good shot of if that's the case. It also sound's a bit random and unplanned to my ears... That can be a good thing if it's used in a constructive manner but this is a bit more then what my tastes can stand. I do like that sort of thing when Autechre does it... I don't know how to explain it... I't's kind of like, "Formed chaos" that follows a sort of ebb and flow of the song. Some of the melodies are quite good in there construction though. It also sounds like you have to do some more sampling. If you have a sound that's an unchanging one ( i.e.. no filter movement or modulation ect..) all the way through the song, it can get a little tiring. I'm not going to say anything about the beats because I know that there are a lot people out there who love that sort of thing... But I don't. Sorry of being so blunt. My main comment is that (for me) there is a general feeling that you need to spend some more time on the composition of each song. I would concentrate more on forming little Sections with in the songs. By the way, On the positive side: the mixing is just fine to my ears. In fact, I would even go as far as saying it's quite good and doesn't really need any more work. Unfortunately, this is a "Do as I say and not as I do" kind of feedback. If you heard my music you might say some of the same things about it. But that's just the thing though - I'm not asking for your feedback on MY music... You are. And besides, Who the hell am I to say? So, just keep plugging away. Have a nice day, -=GB=- P.S. I'd like to know what your setup is? matthew d salcido wrote:
