some vocal favorites of mine include anything by yamo, dauerfish, laub, and some of the mat-101 stuff as well. dont forget that the yamo cd was co-produced by mouse on mars so it's very much in their style. -->-Lance--- mclance@nacs.net lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Other stuff with vocals that I consider pop music worth listenning to: Kit Builders, Drexciya, Dopplereffekt, "Concorde" by Gerhard Potuznik, Super Collider (the Vogel one, not the gtr one), "Rewind" by Cylob, ...and there is a ton of old classics in synth pop that are intelligent and well aged... if you dont mind a mix of german/english, two cds on ladomat 2000 come to mind- the latest forever sweet and turner cds. there are only a few vocals on each if i remember, but the songs themselves are very 'sensible' electronic songs. highly recommended. also in the same vein is a 12 on one of the popular organization imprints(popular music). entitled 'extraleben' by trinkwasser. jorg burger does a remix that lifts disco fever. cl

I love the rephlex Laika album from a couple years back that has male and female vocals. Especially a blast is the arguably corny, hook-laden, poppy "Won't you be my baby baby" song. Also the "Feeling" song is surprising because it utilizes some harmonizing and vocal content of modern pop R&B (a genre which I don't have an appreciation for) but I really dig it. I think Laika includes the old Sugarcubes keyboardist? I typically think vocals and idm don't work well but I like this album. Anybody have opinions on other Laika releases?

You got Laika and Leila mixed up. Laika had that "sounds of satellites" release on Too Pure (i believe). hhhmmmm....don't know about the Sugarcubes connection wif Leila Arab. But she has done alot of live mixing for Bjork's recent live sets....well I don't know...when Bjork was using Plaid for all the sounds.... She's apparently stepping out wif one of the blokes from Plaid. Her other releases...."Space Love" ep, is good in my opinion. The Single for "feeling" has a good single edit but that's about it that's good about it. I think there's another one too. There's also a bonus 7" if you bought the vinyl version.....which I think has one of the best songs on it. I don't know the names because they are unlabeled (I think), just a silver label. Anyways the album got shite loads of praise from the NME, and it's alright. You should probably listen before buying it. Cheers, Rusty (sometimes known as leila_arab@hotmail.com )

Try Moonshake as well if you like Laika (they split from Moonshake, actually). Same dissonant, angular sensibilities. "Dirty and Devine" is nice. You might check out Solex vs. The Hitmeister, too. I think she (Solex) has a brand new one as well.
