There are some new indie bands out nowadays...Broadcast is one of them, Seely, another. I would describe their music the same way I would describe Mouse on Mars or To Rococo Rot, only a little more heavy on the song writing process (more guitar, vocals). Would these be considered post rock? Also, would Stereolab be considered post rock; did they sort of initiate the whole thing? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Will, I wouldn't really consider any of those artists as post-rock. But that term is a pretty slippery one. I've seen it used to describe anyone from Low to Oval, neither of whom I think fall into that category. When I think postrock, I think Trans Am, Tortoise, Flying Saucer Attack.... But, of course, this is all open to interpretation. Check out www.post-rock.com for a little more coherent explanation of things (although I don't agree with their band listing). -Jerry
