has this got a release date? Also, the new Ian Pooley lp (the Times) on Force Inc, i've seen it on CD with thirteen tracks, but as yet i haven't uncovered the vinyl. Does the dbl 12" have the same amount of tracks, or has the CD got a load of Bonuses? Also does the CD/vinyl have all the tracks from the earlier Picture Disc single? best wishes, Nick.

Brought to you by Mr. Aaron S. Not *quite* complete as it doesn't include comp appearances and remixes, but here's all of Mr. Pyke's albums and EPs: Heterarchy cassette (Worm Interface) [later reissued on CD] Elastic Speakers CD (Worm Interface) Pattern Tub CD (Headphone) Me Shape CD (Sprawl) Free 12" (Skam) Prowl 12"/CDEP (Warp) Glob 12" (Musik aus Strom) Palavalamp 12" (Worm Interface) I think that's all. Ambush is Oliver Lieb from Germany. he's known for his work for the labels Harthouse and Eye Q (maybe Recycle Or Die too?) and in 92-94 they put out a lot of trance, hardtrance and ambient. Oliver has released records as Spicelab, The Ambush, LSG and some other names and he has collaborated with Rainald Goetz. bauri.unjd-ntwk

I like "me shape" (full length CD) better. it's not as mellow as "Pattern Tub" but i think it's more 'engaging' the overall sound is brighter. The 12" e.p. on music aus strom has a couple tracks I really like. Unfortunately I don't have "Elastic Speakers" full length but I'm sure it 's pretty good, too. (Anyone have a review?) Basically Freeform is pretty damn cool, i like the jazzy syncopation he puts into all his beats and melodies, plus the fact that he's into doing melodic solos/improvs over his loops, kinda like jake slazenger...but not quite as tongue in cheek Join 18 million Eudora users by signing up for a free Eudora Web-Mail account at http://www.eudoramail.com

Pattern Tub's the only one I like. If you're CRAZY about Pattern Tub you'll probably like others, but I find the rhythms very annoying, sort of stilted and un-funky, although they're more like "funk" or whatever than the drum'n'bass, dub or hip hop kind of rhythms I like more myself. Roy G Biv wrote:

For the sake of saying so, I think Freeform is consistently extremely disappointing. Some of the tracks on Pattern Tub are fantastic, experimental, interestingly done etc. There's nothing as lovely as the vocal sampling tracks from Pattern Tub on anything else he's released. Elastic Speakers, from 1995, is all synths and those same rhythms I can't get into. Yes, the melodies recall Jake Slazenger in part, and aren't as tongue in cheek but still terribly cheesy. I LOVE Mike P as Mu-ziq, Tusken Raiders and Kid Spatula, but Jake Slazenger seems a waste of time to me. I think it's that electro thing somehow... The "jazzy syncopations" are just lame to me, they don't move me or interest me conceptually. As opposed to say Mu-ziq or Jake Mandell, whose rhythms and weird melodies/harmonies are much better IMHO. As usual, this is only my opinion, and many people clearly think Freeform's great. I've attempted to explain why I don't, so that those who perhaps share my taste can know to at least give it a listen first. greg must've been confusing release dates. one might think some of simons' stuff sounds like Ae. i've been a freeform fan four years or more, & i happen to think that some of booth'n'browns' stuff sounds like freeform. listen to ska04. listen to ska007. who sounds like who?(if at all =) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? The first couple of Freeform releases I heard (especially the Prowl EP) reminded me of Ae at the time. But I'll admit that now that it's a couple of years down the road and my ear for IDM has developed a bit more, I might not feel the same way now. I should dig out the old Freeform records and see what I think. And anyway, the new Freeform disc on Sub Rosa is brilliant, and doesn't sound like Ae in the least. :) Greg -- Greg Clow - greg@stainedproductions.com - http://www.stainedproductions.com - feedback monitor - electronic & experimental radio/reviews/interviews - - http://www.stainedproductions.com/feedback/ - --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

i know. that's why i added the (if at all) part. i know it's all opinion. i just, for some reason, think parts of the keynell 12" sound a fuck of alot like 'siamese telebox'. i love Ae, god knows that. i wasn't insinuating, or at least i don't think i was, that Ae bit pykes' style. it's all good anyway. i could care less what sounds like what as long as it rocks. i'm a tripperrrrrrrr=^] --- Reimer <reimer@softhome.net> wrote:

a lot of the things stocked at CD Zone they do not actually have in stock. in fact, most of the things they list which i have tried to buy have not been in stock. they list them because they think they can get them from their distributers. they make up a giood number of releases and list things which have been deleted for years!! personally, i'd order from someone who actually had the goods in stock all the time. you never know though i s'pose. tom xx -- in the year two thousand i think that people will be able to fly everybody will have little rocket shooty things tied on there ankles that shoot fire all our clothes will be made of silver with diamons and roobys we will have no hair and our houses will be like big bouncey bubbles in the sky or under the sea and children will not have to go to school but will watch telly all day and eat baked beans --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
