i've noticed a different extreme surfacing along drum n' bass dynamics as well that occasionally proves interesting. something that i've enjoyed labeling as "post-jungle" (har). not usually exploring the rapidly fluctuating, polyrhythmic nature of said "drill n' bass" as much, it can perhaps be best described as extremely clangy, metallic, almost void of melody, white-noise-ridden jungle. For those who've longed to dance energetically to Merzbow, perhaps. "ambush" is a label which has been releasing records to this effect. tracks where the metallic clatters just drop off into periods of sheer noise for a bit. not to mention tracks that are completely sheer noise. Christoph de Babylon seems to be working along similar lines as well somethimes. -other peculiar, loud mutations on the drum n' bass sensibility that have piqued my attention: LSR, and that wonderful Downpour 12" on drop beat. there's certainly some volume going on here and there, gary in the player: THE KROUMATA PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE (bis- germany) --- ----------------------------------------------------------- keep yr ears open- to listen to the next KUCI "sneak attak", and to be safe when walking thru heavy traffic. ----------------------------------------------------------- "WE ARE ALL SAUSAGES!!!" -the kids in the hall ----------------------------------------------------------- Angelfire for your free web-based e-mail. http://www.angelfire.com
