It's a compilation of tracks from the four Elements 12"s. No new material. Greg

Ion is a great compilation. It takes tracks from all 4 of the TH series of 12"s that Theorem put out on Minus. The highlight for me is "Shift", in all its 14-minutes-of-Detroit-automotive-techno glory. As far as looking for "Nano" - good luck. Dale Lawrence (Theorem) says he doesn't even know where to get a copy anymore. Be on the lookout for the "Mantra One" 12", too - it's on Plus 8. In my opinion, the best single Theorem record yet (although TH1 comes close). I have Ion - its quite enjoyable. i had bad feelings about Dale's stuff, but after listening it seems to have changed my views. Sound a little to plastikman-like though, imho. overall, nice to chill to. I saw dale spin at richie's consumed party here in detroit a little over a year ago - the most amazing ambient set i have ever sat through. on a cursory listen one would think of plastikman. but upon further examination Theorem is doing his own thing. I do not have the CD but have all four 12 inches. If the CD features selections from each I can hightly recommend it. p.s. Chester: I find it highly amusing that you said techno sucked but like theorem. I am pretty sure that Theorem considers himself techno. -daniel Head Monkey Mad Monkey Records http://monkey.eliteware.com On Wed, 12 May 1999, Chester Blaze wrote:

I don't really see the Plastikman comparisons, personally. I think Dale's taken his own route in the Theorem material. What Plastikman elements do you hear in it?

Actually, it was a Theorem live set - Dale doesn't DJ at all. It was a great set - when he played "Os" it was the first time I realized just how great that track was. I went nuts for it without even realizing what it was. I remember playing it over & over the next day, though. Another highlight was hearing Clark Warner drop "Mantra One" at about 4:00AM while I was in the ambient room checking my email from one of the text terminals they'd set up. Something about hearing that track, seeing glowing text on a green monochrome monitor, and being in that environment really did it for me. i don't consider that techno. i put it in the same category, lesser ranking, as plastikman.

*Cough, Splutter* Let me get this straight. You don't consider Plastikman as techno? Erm, you should try that one on 313. Lets see, what else isn't techno? Carl Craig? Jeff Mills? Juan Atkins? Underground Resistance? As I believe someone already said, "Time for an education." CheerioAndrewC.
