I recently saw an album by I-F on Disko B records at the local record store. I have heard good things both about Disko B and I-F. I'm pretty sure I-F goes under a different more well known name sometimes. Anyways if anyone can give me some more info on this it would be much appreciated.

yeah, apparently there's a couple volumes of this, but i haven't seen it. i do know that i've gotten the ones i've mentioned from the usual online retailers, but i haven't seen the bunker comps listed anywhere except on clone's website (www.clone.box.nl). eric

Ectomorph Aux 88 If you don't have the Interstellar Fugitives record RUN DON'T WALK! Keith Tucker (DJ K1) Any of the Murder Capital stuff Be on the lookout for those Kraftwerk 12" bootlegs! And don't forget the crossover with Miami Bass -- I have a load of booty bass records that are a scream to drop in an electro set. There's a nice booty bass mix of "Booty Call" that makes people crack up every time I play it. If you're really brave, drop some 2Live Crew into an electro set, and watch the jaws drop. kent williams -- kent@avalon.net ICQ:33001909 On Tue, 20 Apr 1999, Darren Keast wrote:

FWIW, they are often listed as simply "Bunker 3000" and "Bunker 3001" choice electro, VERY nice indeed... Listen for the track with the dirty beats over samples from that HBO special on prostitutes... creepy :) e Ernesto Ikerd, (817) 763-4795 Company Graphics, Dept 17, MZ-1156 Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems Fort Worth, Texas

Well, I got a copy of Vol. 1 (and a bunch of other Dutch electro records) through a friend who bought 'em at Clone and shipped 'em to me. It might be worth your while to order these records from Clone. The exchange rate tends to be favorable towards the American dollar. Also, while ChairCrusher mentioned mixing the stuff up with booty bass, the fellow at the Clone shop told my friend that he mixes it with old Euro disco/dance music (i.e., John Foxx). Strange...

when darren mentioned that he was looking for stuff like i-f, i gravitated toward the more new wave oriented stuff. carl finlow (voice stealer, random factor, il.ek.tro) might also fit this bill, depending on how varied his tastes are beyond the gutterbass that is a hallmark of the dutch electro-wave records. ersatz audio and suction, along with finlow having more refined production, are also influenced by new wave themes with their own flair for updating. then again, this could all just be free legwork for the skinny site, in which case i'd ask for compensation in the form of them getting rid of the droolingly retarded ad that prefaces each realaudio snippet. eric

You have to realize some things about Serge and Ferenc -- they aren't like American DJ's who spin one style and keep their blinders on. I had the privelege to hear both DJ Search (Serge, from Clone) and Ferenc(i/f) spin on the same night, and both guys played a really wide variety of stuff, that all fit together because of their skills. I/f doesn't spin without including some italo disco in his set. Electro music, after all, started out as part of early hip hop. The basic electro beat was adopted for Miami Bass. Groups like 2Live Crew turned Electro into more of a guilty pleasure for most American DJ's. There has been a sort of revival going on for the past few years, but what has kept Electro alive over the years are people like I/F and BMG -- Electro is a music they have always loved, even when it's no longer the flavor of the month.

I don't know if this is the same type of electro the original poster was interested in, but I have a volume 2 of a Dave Clarke electro series. It seems to be your pretty basic electro stuff, which for me means if it's dropped in the middle of a techno set it comes off as brilliant, but otherwise it has a tough chance of standing on its own because of today's IDM and the progression since. _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
