2 years ago or so i tried out altavista's hilarious "babelfish" translation service on a random text. i think it was some feature on j burger which was written in english and which i had babelfish translate into german just for the hell of it. for added pleasure, i did not read the english version before in order to see if i could figure out by the german text what the english text meant. one word that kept coming up was "mikrophontinte", as in "ich habe viel mit mikrophontinte gearbeitet". i couldn't figure what might have been meant by that as hard as i tried, so i finally checked the english version and read "mike ink" :-D cheers, tom At 14:27 23.03.99 -0800, cl wrote:

Excellent!!! I love the Japanese English found in equipment manuals too - one I saw just yesterday for a new CD player was the warning not to play 'creaked' CD's. Tschuess! I *

try *any* roland manual for interesting variations on the english language. the manual for the 202 especially sticks out in my mind as having interesting takes one the words "preset" and "random". yamaha manuals always come across as especially eloquent and flowery (but with an instrument like the VL-1, who's surprised?). * #### a disturbance in a system. #### laerm. @voicenet.com ##:# i think there's something you should know/i think it's time i told you so there's something deep inside of me/there's someone i forgot to be icq: 5562209

greg: mike ink's real name is wolfgang voigt his similarly prolific/ubiquitous brother is reinhard voigt but write not about "mike ink" lest you have wolfgang voigt's publicist posting emails to ye that "mike ink is dead while wolfgang voigt lives" :) andrew Greg Clow wrote:
