a few totally unrelated things: did kid 606 ever release anything on cd? if so, can anybody recommend anything to me? i saw a metamatics cd on clear at a local record store yesterday. i've heard some talk about them on the list so i'm wondering how they sound like & if i should buy it. i'm into fucked up beats these days. god i want fucked up beats!@# there's too much weird noises stuff on the shelves nowadays. :) at the used bins yesterday i picked an old lisa carbon cd (from 93 i think) entitled "experimental post-techno swing" on sonic records & it's such an odd record. it sounds like jazz made with the usual 303/808 acid paraphrenilia. the store people had put it in the "acid jazz" section, which is quite funny because in a way it _is_ "acid" jazz, but not as in "acid jazz". if you see what i mean. at any rate, it sounds quite good even though the beats are quite generic (it even has the claps & all of the cheesy percussion sounds i'll admit i've grown to love from the 808, but that are _still_ way cheesy). i also found dummy run's "ice cream headache". great tunes on that one. -- david turgeon curator, http://www.notype.com web programmer, http://www.jumpmedia.com eerie@mnemonic.net - icq #2358960

go to http://www.vinylcomm.com/ I recommend the kid606/lesser split cd. from a post I made a while back: check out the kid606/lesser split cd. The kid606 tracks are quite good. They are a lot different (at least to my ears) to other things I have heard from him (don't sweat the technics etc..). The tracks are dark, dense, noisy and have a definite sense of development. Definitely for those who like experimental noisy idm. The lesser tracks are good as well. Different than the kid606 tracks but they compliment each other. Lots of digital manipulation (for both the kid and lesser). Plus the packaging is superb. If I remember correctly there are 6 to 8 kid606 tracks beyond that, he also has a track on my CD comp coming out in april.

there is a split kid606/lesser cd on vinyl communications. the first track (by lesser) called adios, amen is maybe the greatest dnb i have heard (techstep, fuckstep, whatever the monicker of the week is). the rest of the cd is not in that vein however, not nearly as hyper, kind of plain 'experimental electronics' as i remember. isnt there also a 'dont sweat the technics' cd by kid606? cl
