yeah. there aren't too many words in the english language which can be made plural by removing a S from the end and adding an I (or some combination of Is). it's quite a rare thing, really. - wells oliver / s0ewoliv@titan.vcu.edu

methinks cnn.com snagged this from some comprehensive page about the film, and omitted the rest. apparently this is the early form the story took, when terry southern and kubrick were still hashing it out as more of a terror-drama, but got dropped in favor of the bigwigs and military men when it became a black comedy. props to john baxter's recent "kubrick: a biography" for the info. quite a comprehensive and fascinating book on the man, and on how movies really get made and what one has to go through to impose any sort of artistic vision on them. hmmm...idm content...oh, anybody got an addy for jeff or phillipa at ninja tune? i can't seem to find any old posts from them. i'm curious as to whether we're going to get any new amon tobin material this year. "permutation" is still tops! rob

The plural for synopsis is actually "synopses", as it is a feminine noun in Latin and in its developments in latin languages. It's like that in english too. I too am sad for kubrick's death, last night we did a radio show dedicated to him (and reviewing the latest Underworld, what d'ya all think about it?). english too. speaking of plurals of feminine nouns, what the hell is the plural of "clitoris"? i've been wanting to know that for years. anybody? alex, maybe? is it 'clitorises?' that just sounds wrong. but 'clitori' sounds just plain silly. rjck./!)_ armchairbeatarchitecture!)www.gl.umbc.edu/~nworth1 ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Jesus, haven't you ever heard of a DICTIONARY? The modern English plural is clitores. The classical plural is clitorides. C. -- Chris.Hilker (cspot@hyperreal.org)

Webster's Dictionary online: www.m-w.com - bookmark it. Che PS for bonus points, what's the singular of "pudenda"? (you did know it was plural, didn't you?) Don't answer, please, just a joke.
