Most of the Voice's music writers are readable, but barely interesting.
Douglas Wolk is the one notable exception, other than that, you get pretty
much standard categorization, unimaginative writing, etc. J hoberman can
still write a good movie review on occasion, but other than that, the guys
at NY press are right--the voice should be taken out and shot, a mercy
killing. As ridiculous as Ny press' inflammatory politics are, the Voice
is just limp. And Ny press lets its writers write, be ambitious. That's
something, at least... Adam heimlich is still a bitchy crackhead.
