Hmm... I'm not sure if anyone's aware of this but Coldcut's "Autumn Leaves" is featured on Miambient Volume 1 on Whirling Records (Florida). I've never heard this track before, nor have i has it featured on any of their releases (or am i wrong?)... It's an ambient electronica track with female lyrics in the background: "And i miss you most of all, my darling". It doesn't sound like Coldcut AT ALL! The name 'Coldcut' is spelled 'Cold Cut'. Could there be two Cold-cuts out there? Pietro. PS- It's a VERY nice track by the way...

As was told, the CD version of COldcut's "Philosophy" features two versions of "Autum Leaves" (one being weak) and may be still available (try second hand shops). THe vinyl version (released on NinjaTune) has also one or more versions (different from the CD I think), but should be hard or impossible to get. The first NTone compilation (or mix-tape / -CD) has the Irresistible Force remix played almost full, I got this CD just some month ago (but I guess it's hard to get too). I think you should try looking for them 'couse I guess NinjaTune / Coldcut don't own the rights to this one (they were signed to Arista or something like that when "Philosophy" was released, and as much as I heard there was some trouble re: the way Coldcuts music should develope). So I don't expect "Autum Leaves" to be seen on NinjaTune in the future. BTW: I once was in Halle, a little city in the south of Germany (where my sister lives), and in the evening my sister's friend and I went to a small club 'round the corner for a drink and quite fast we came to the conclusion that this club wasn't made for us. But just when we wanted to leave the music stopped and a young girl (well, not older than 20 I think) went to a piano and started playing. And now you have to guess what she was playing first and what made me stay some more minutes ... :-) Bye Sebastian -- Sebastian Herrfurth (seher@cs.tu-berlin.de) pages for Bernd Friedmann / Riz Maslen / Daniel Meier / DJ Krush / ... at http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/~seher/music.html

I cannot for a moment understand why anybody would like this schmaltzy track, but if you insist, it's on a 1995 EMI 2xCD compilation titled Techno Nights/Ambient Dawn. Credits : Cosma/Mercer Coldcut Peter Maurice Music Co. Ltd / EMI (P) 1993 BMG Eurodisc Ltd. I * np : Kruder & Dorfmeister Sessions : very mellow indeed but not quite reaching the dread kitsch factor of Autumn Leaves {shudder} :-)

This was originally on Coldcut 'Philosophy'. This was released on Arista and sorta marked the end of there more pop like tunes. The vinyl came out on Ninja but is now deleted (although probably not to hard to find). The vinyl had an extra 12" with some wicked tunes on it, including Mixmaster Morris's mix of 'Autumn Leaves' (which is also on 'Tones Tales 1'). As for it being re-issued. Pretty unlikely as Arista owns that record. Take Care Jeff

I have 3 different 12"s of this track, all with different mixes. The Ninja version is, I assume, the original, a fairly dense, jazzy mix. There's also an Arista 2x12 with the full Irresistible Force mix, a Nellee Hooper mixe, and a Nellee Hooper dub. Finally, there's regular Arista 12" with an edited version of the Irresistible Force mix and the Nellee Hooper mix. Guess I must like the track or something. =) Joe

Sorry Irene, Coldcut's version of Autumn Leaves is actually one of the most sublime and beautiful tracks within the corpus of idm. And Mixmaster Morris's mixes float off into another, better world ;) There's no kitsch element at all in it for my money. Plenty of other stuff has the kitsch (such as all house music ever, horrible divas in jungle music, etc), but not this.
