Just got advances on some new WARP stuff: * PLONE- WAP107CDP 70's Kraut inspired and gleefully referred without sounding too obvious . Vocoders, happy tinny underscored beats, squelch, with a bit of Plank-isms here and there. This to me, is a vibe that Air strive for but underachieve. Plone has captured a space age, retro 70's am ez/ listening radio vibe that is totally fun *and* unpretentious. Yipee! Not as *serious* or IDM as a lot of Warp but so what? * TLS ( Weatherall- Tenniswood ) - WAP106CDP Electro, baby, electro. Well, not completely. Electro, 80's pop dance, sexy moods, Detroit simplicity and even a beat box industrial shuffle here and there. I'm also feeling some late 80's white boy Brit funk a la ACR and 400 Blows, though that might just be *my* reference point. Track 4 kicks the hardest, riding the crest between a sped up Egyptian Lover and Drecyiya. Bangin' all round! Track 5 , A d+b track ( sort of ) and 6, a fast bleeper end the show with this one. Sexy and upbeat. Great. I must say that I find this deal between Duophonic and Warp to be rather confusing. They say that Warp is handling the record for the "rest of the world" outside of the UK, but Warp doesn't really *exist* as a non-UK label, and from what I've senn/heard, the record is being released by Drag City in the US and Warner in Japan. So what's the story? Greg

I'm sorry, I got this wrong. Warp is doing this album in Europe (except UK), not in the States. At least the onesheet says so. Sorry again, Thaddi
