Same with Icelandic radio stations...I guess it's the same, everywhere you look. Doesn't it just get to ya, though, that the progressive music - the music a lot of thought and effort has been put into - is being used as background music while the watered-down, carbon-copy, bland-as-hell crap comprising 90% of today's pop is presented as "the main course"? Annoys the hell out of me whenever I'm bothered to think about it, although granted, I realize they have to think about ratings n' all...appealing to the 'lowest common denominator' (yech). Just messes with my sense of, erm, artistic justice or something. And, seeing as how I'm on a radio station rant anyway...don't know if any of you list peeps receive Coldcut's Solid Steel radio show syndicated on your local stations like I do - assuming someone's reading this who does, does your station feel the need to insert their own messy trailers smack bang into the middle of one of the sets? How annoyed I was when, in the middle of an astonishingly beautiful ambient breakdown on the show the other day, I suddenly hear this jingle (in Icelandic, roughly translated): "You're listening to Solid Steel - Musical Mash-Up From Hell, on Radio X", done in this amateurish, messy, white-noisey digitized voice, like a weak imitation of that robot voice CC use during the show. Promptly ruined the ambience for that particular set, thoroughly pissing me (and a couple other Ninja purist freaks) off in the process. Jeff from Ninja, if you're reading this (and feel like commenting on this admittedly not-so-earth-shaking complaint)...is this something Coldcut encourage or would they be at all miffed about it? Phew, a bit of a rant there. Thanks for your bandwidth folks, sorry to those who feel I'm posting pointless nonsense...these things just get to me, y'know? Gosh, am I tired. Last year we had Solid Steel aired by Moscow's 106.8FM for some time. The "localized" jingles were done pretty well - I believe they were from Coldcut HQ. -- Stay tuned, MhZ mailto:mzabal@module.ru http://www.mu.ru/reverbs
