Hello. Haven't seen anybody else mention this yet. I can't be the only person who's bought it! I'll stick a proper review up on my web site when the World Cup's finished (too little time, too much to do, etc -- but take a peek now if you want a review of Mask4), but I'll give it the thumbs up here. The remix of Keynell is perhaps a little bit disappointing. The remix of Mag is also the same one that appeared on the Skampler compilation. But Rival Viral is easily one of Gescom's best tracks -- and Pelt is pretty smart too. On my copy, the labels have been printed on the wrong side(s). /\/)ark http://www.sonance.demon.co.uk/

I was about to say the same thing! The labels are backwards! arrgh! to add to the frustration they both say "This Side". they could have said "That side" or "Other Side" and it would have been more interesting ;) I guess Andy was too busy making sure the Braille sticker was properly attached for the benefit of blind DJs everywhere. Now I know that in fact "Rival Viral" (not Pelt) is one of the most beautiful Gescom (if not *all of* IDM) tracks of all time! (Keep in mind Im partial to dreamy downtempo beats) I know IM going to hurt myself if I try to review it, so I wont, but if this were the only track on the record it would still one of the best records I ever heard! "Rival Viral" is chilled out and downtempo and has that unmistakable Gescom/Autechre beat you could pick out of any audio police lineup! The Ae beat, dreamy pads, and the soulful groove of squeaky sax/bassoon squeaks is mindblowing! Its like they threw some saxes into a wood-chipper and sampled the whole mess, and then arranged the best squawks and squeaks into an ingenious SOULFUL pattern that seemed random at first, but then when I finally saw how it fit together I got that chill-down-the-spine feeling that I get when I realize Im musically in love. If Gescom started making a fur sink or an electric dog polisher Id order a half dozen just based off that track- and I dont even have a dog!! MATCHUP: Gescom in a lazyboy recliner VS Chicago Bears & Mike Ditka OUTCOME: Gescom wins, 119 to 7 Serving suggestions: Get up on Saturday, Wake-und-Bake, put on SKA10 set to Rival Viral. After 3-18 listens drink a mug of strong coffee go about your day feeling properly programmed, and more optimistic than ever about the future of music! Repeat as needed gescom gushing ernie Ernesto Ikerd, (817) 763-4795 Company Graphics, Dept 17 Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircaft Systems Fort Worth, Texas

Lovely sustained chord and rattlesnake rhythm that remains unchanged for about a minute (although you don't actually notice), then the sustained chord begins transposing itself just before an outbreak of ever-evolving fractal wind instruments kick in -- very Graham Massey sounding too. /\/)ark http://www.sonance.demon.co.uk/

Speaking of Gescom - heard a nice Ae remix of Gescom last night on the wireless. The Ae sound really does benefit from the chunk of Ultramagnetic MCs in there. Where do I get this track?
