i just listened to the excellent steady j "crunch" mixtape(thanks james!) again for the 1st time in awhile... ive always associated kinesthesia with teh empathy bx, melodic type sound...(ive heard e.b. once or twice)... but there's this track on here called, Quadrephlex which is harsh, and just brilliant. if i like this, what other Kinesthesia stuf should i check out? thanks! andy ajsolomon@wesleyan.edu

Kinesthesia Vol 1 & 2 twelves on Rephlex, but the best thing is to buy that new CD on released on Rephlex that contains almost all of the tracks from Kinesthesia Vol. 1 & 2 plus some all from Empathy Box Remixes 12" plus some more.... But if you really like harsher Jeffs' material I'd recommend: Cylob "Industrial Folksongs" (Rephlex, Cat015, 12") ---> You won't regret it... bye rob

...or you will. "Industrial Folksongs" is a straight out WARNING from me. Jeffs' absolutely worst piece of work, melodyless, kinda like the vaccumcleaners from AB3 mixed with the tracks from SAW2 without pads. Sorta. But it isn't really good at all. If you want harshness get the Vol 1 & 2, there are two soft and two harsh tracks on each. I bought em for the soft ones, but harsh people have to have their piece as well. The track on the Mururoa EP is in the same vein with a truckload of surfacenoise added. But what I think Chris Jeffs is good at doing is the SAW85-92 type things, like on Empathy Box and Cylobian Sunset, you don't really raise your eyebrows to any of it, because it has all been done before - but it's quite good. "Industrial Folksongs" is the only CJ release I haven't bought, simply because all 10 times I've listened to it I've just wanted to lift the needle of the record. Be good Franz. ANDY: your Cds are on their way. Sorry for the delay! --- WHEN DOGMA ENTERS THE BRAIN, ALL INTELLECTUAL ACTIVITY CEASES. - Robert Anton Wilson.

It's a nice little collection. 'Lava Trader' is a top notch piece of early Detroit influenced Brit-Techno. Did the name change tie in with the change to harsher sounds?

quadrephlex is on kinesthesia volume 2, if you like that track you ought to like the rest of that ep and possibly volume 1 as well. np: boards of canada "telephasic workshop" "a dream is worth a thousand pictures, the mouths of lampreys a thousand more..."
