Can someone tell me which Gescom tracks are no longer in print? I'm getting ready to sell my collection and don't want to offend anyone's sensibilities by auctioning an in print item (even though it seems that the law of supply and demand would work here, with the caveat that informed markets work more efficiently than uninformed markets (basic economics)). Thanks Che

i think the only gescom thing still in print is the autechre remixes on warp. all the skam stuff is out of print, motor seems like it's hard to find, and i've never even seen the other one (is it on clear?) np: boards of canada "telephasic workshop" "a dream is worth a thousand pictures, the mouths of lampreys a thousand more..."

That's funny. It seems to me like the Motor EP is the easiest to find. The Clear one I've never seen. I've never seen the Warp one, either. The Skam stuff I wonder about. Weren't the first two re-pressed? --------------------------- Danny Wyatt danny@arbitrary.com http://www.arbitrary.com/

True enough. Too bad, then, that it's the worst thing ever released under the Gescom name. Greg

yeah, they were, but i think the represses are out of print too. i found gescom 2 somewhere for $3.50, though...i've seen the motor ep fairly often, but i've heard lots of people on the internet trying unsuccessfully to find it... np: boards of canada "aquarius" "a dream is worth a thousand pictures, the mouths of lampreys a thousand more..."

Same here... pj (modernmusic) seems to constantly have the motor 12 in stock, but there always seems to be someone looking for it. guess you can't tell people enough about certain things... brap@sonic.net /// http://www.sonic.net/~brap/ [V/VM][blackdog] ETC-+/////////// C.Gosselin, 1547 Boston Court #7, Santa Rosa, CA 95405

SKA002 & SKA003 were both re-pressed. BUT the represses recently went out of print again ;-( SKA007 is also out of print 'the sounds of machines our parents used' has been technically out of print for a while, but i think you might still be able to get some direct from clear? yes, the AE Key Nell remix on Warp is still in print, try warp-mart. the motor ep, i belive, is also still in print, i see copies around here often. I just think it gets poor distribution. i'll see if i can find a more definite answer later today. np: mixmaster mike: neckthrust one mlt_ data pertaining to_musik aus strom/u-ziq/karaoke kalk/afx-l/darcangelo/etc.AT.. ]http://members.xoom.com/multsanta/[ _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. They're all out of print, though SKAM 002 and SKAM 003 were repressed recently, and "Motor" seems to be available occasionally. And I have to disagree with whoever said that "Motor" was the worst Gescom release. I love it intensely. It's less in-yer-face than some of the other work, but it's quite sublime in its textures. If I had to pick a worst, I'd have to choose SKAM 003, which is still pretty decent, just not as supremely excellent as everything else. If anyone wants to sell me the Clear EP (it's the only major Gescom release I don't own, and the best one IMHO), I'm listening. -- Adam J Weitzman "You know, there's so many different ways NewsEdge Corp. to lose your mind, and rock'n'roll is http://www.newsedge.com just one of them." http://www.newspage.com - Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist

You know, I didn't see mention of these two items which contain Gescom tracks. REEL1 Invisible Soundtracks Vollume 1 _Leaf_ contains Bronchusix by Gecom and the Push Button Objects on Chocolote Industries #3 says, "keyed in by Gescom", but the Push Button Objects on Schematic says, "all buttons pushed by edgar farinas"... Does someone in the know want to clear this up? BTW the Gescom tracks on Leaf is FANTASTIC! -rbc3

The way I see it, "keyed in by Gescom" just applies to track four, "Non-Existant," and means its the Autechre remix that was supposed to be on this disc. This is given extra support by the fact that the first track is also titled "Non-Existant." But, as someone already pointed out, the Gescom remix does sound an awful lot like the track on RadioMix that all the discographies have listed as "snackwitch/mag remix/remake." Tangentially, does anyone else think that Chocolate Industries put too much money into the beauty of that PBO disc (great DR labels and grey marble vinyl) and that's why the Funkstoerung one is paper thin? ya need a mic check, Danny

i am sure this has been covered to death, but here is what i know all gescom(except motor) is non available. i cant say for sure that it is "out of print" technically, but i know i cant get them. the one on clear is the hardest to find, and the skam 12"s are getting very difficult i run into some of the skam items in warehouse once in a while, but i know at skam hq in manchester, the cupboards are bare good luck out there. you may very well need it pj p.s. - my condolances to james at v/vm because he must be a bit down. manchester united didnt win the premiership and man city got relegated to the second division. he is quite the soccer fan, as am i a sad day in manchester i assure you -- pj>the exalted grand puba of mail order modern music 1018 north charles st, baltimore, md. 21201 fon: 410.625 9390 fax: 410.625 9359 http://www.modernmusic.com DO YOU GET OUR WEEKLY NEW RELEASE LIST? I feel the same way - 'Motor' does have some nice qualities, although it's not as adventurous as say, 'Cichlisuite'. Key points for me are the "angry"-sounding synth stabs that are used on several tracks, and in general the subtle shifts/tweaks of the timbres used.

IMO the best Gescom release is the original 'Key Nell', which seems to be where the hip-hop feel started coming into their music. 'Sounds of Machines..." is a great piece of electro though. GD
