My oldest IDM-record is probably Polygon Window (aka Aphex Twin) 'Surfing on Sinewaves' Warp 7, Artificial Intelligence series (that's probably where they got the name IDM) It sounds early nineties - well, it IS early nineties. It has single-layered synths (not those complicated sounds of modern synths, but just one waveform) and tr-303 or tr-909 drums. And there's this message on the back which is typical for young labels like Warp in those days, it says: 'If you're on the same wavelength, send you tapes to Warp' Cute isn't it ;-) --==v^v^v==-- Mathias Verraes ET.phone.home@ThePentagon.com Demi-Sick (live triphop & drum'n'bass) http://www.biosys.net/demisick demisick@biosys.net --==v^v^v==--

actually the stuff may have been written in the late 80's, it sounds like stuff from the same era as saw 85-92...

just to be a good music geek, those are mostly tr-606 drums. and there is no tr-303 drum machine, but there is a tb-303 bass synth which is used on the untitled track 7. np: newcleus "jam on it"...speaking of thee good old days, one of the most defining musical moments of my childhood... "a dream is worth a thousand pictures, the mouths of lampreys a thousand more..."
