"Buckethead": He has played his guitar with D&B, funk, rock, metal, dub, what-have-you... Currently, he is riding the idm/ambient trend. Does anyone have a review of Colma, his new CD? Is this something to be interested in? Has anyone on this list been exposed to his work? Any input welcome...

ill go out on a limb and say buckethead is god...hendrix reincarnated...go see him live and youll understand why i say this...i dont have colma yet, but i just picked up "i need 5 minutes alone", a series of duets with brain...total sonic madness...not idm though... tom w np: bucketheadland _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Just go see him live... I saw him in Praxis:Transmutation (a bill laswell project which included DJ Disk from the skratch piklz, soulslinger from jungle sky, bernie worrell from pfunk, and maybe a few others)... It was really amazing, the loudest thing I've ever heard. If you can imagine ambient heavy metal, you're halfway to figuring out what praxis sounded like... I think they have an album or two out with a similar lineup... I know Laswell has a website somewhere, and there was an article on Buckethead in a recent Wire... Buckethead was unreal, both in his playing, and sheer theatricality — he plays guitar with all manner of odd objects (hell, he plays with a bucket on his head... hence the name), he looks like some horror-movie refugee and he just rocked hard ;-) Sam

Colma is pretty mellow, yet its has a soulful depth that prevents it from being akin to some trite Windam Hill guitar album. Similar to the mellower moments of Nicky Skopelitis album "Ekstasis". If youre looking for something more "out-there" from him, try "Day of the Robot". Definately worth buying though. clockwise np: Coldcut 'Let Us Play' At 02:32 AM 4/18/98 +0000, you wrote:
