Was out of town over the weekend and picked up yet another release by ken gibson aka 8 frozen module. This one is called Collages from inside of a circuit board gone wild. It is an ep and appears to be a vinyl only. It is on the kakemia record label <kmro12>. This label is out out of Kansas City MO. This is yet another brilliant outing and I believe Ken Gibson has a bright future ahead of him. This ep is not as harsh as the other two releases and is a little more melodic. Note, it contains 2 songs found on the the confused designer cd. The description offered up by the store where I bought it reads: "sounds like 3rd eye foundation/amp in the early days with more beats" If you see it, give it a spin. Anyhow to date I have tracked down the following by 8fm Daydream nightmare ep <trance syndicate> the confused designer <trance syndicate> the confused electrician <city slang; I am assuming it is the same as the above> Collages from inside of a circuit board gone wild <kakemia> If anyone has any changes or additions to the above please let me know. -daniel

I think there are different tracks on these two... read a review in MIXMAG, and some of the tracks they listed are: warm and the cold electrified the new sensitivity short dub 2 white mud revival they obviously didn't list all the tracks, but I think three of those aren't on the Trance version. (btw, MM gave it a *** semi-inspired post-rock electronica from the us) np: third eye foundation & v/vm split 12" ----------------------------------------------------------------- Karaoke Kalk visual discography http://members.aol.com/volumunits/karaoke_kalk.html -----------------------------------------------------------------

Yep all of the above except for warm and the... are not on the trance syndicate version. Short dub 2 is on the collages ep.

hmmmm when I think post rock I don't think 8fm. Perhaps if they were reviewing Ken Gibson's other band <furry animals> I would agree. Never did like mix mag. While on the subject, for those out there that dig that post rock sound, check out veiculo by to rococo rot <on city slang>. -daniel

heh just realized that white mud revival is on the day dream nightmare ep. Perhaps the european release has the 2 eps on it as well as some other stuff? I have no idea where the new sensitivity came from. Anyone have a track listing for the city slang release? Sorry about not having this info in the previous followup post. It is late and my fingers hit send before I had finished thinking.... -daniel

just have to add that I agree... if any comparison comes to mind immediately, it would be "Generation Star Wars" era Alec Empire... with a more washed-out sounding effect. also, for the post-rock deal, check out KREIDLER & KANTE! I'm sure there's more out there, but... np: gerhard potuznik - rush ----------------------------------------------------------------- Karaoke Kalk visual discography http://members.aol.com/volumunits/karaoke_kalk.html -----------------------------------------------------------------
